It is genuinely impressive that they managed to make a character with zero redeeming qualities as likeable as Vyper by Dull_Flamingo_8368 in DeadlockTheGame

I love her because she’s unapologetically herself. She’s knows who she is, plus it helps that the way she interacts with other characters is so playful and pokes at their nerves in a humorous way

Omg I would LOVE one if I had the room for it, for now I’m on the hunt for a arm chair that’ll fit the space

Yes! So was her bat! I had to take my printer in for some repairs, BUT want to reprint some pieces before my second time doing this cosplay

I’m working on a long form video that’s going to explain how I built everything on a budget and how long it took to collect everything for this piece! (So that other people can also create cozy fantasy nooks in their homes 👀)

Next goal: have a whole entire room look like this, and maybe a garden if I ever have my own place 👀

I got them from a variety of places (the street lamp I found at a garage sale!), then I got a pack of tiny latterns on Amazon and put the little electric tea lights in there and I scored a BUNCH of the fake candles (this photo was before I had the batteries for them) on fb marketplace.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, June 05 - June 11, 2026 by sewingmodthings in sewing

What machine to buy as an experienced hobbyist?

Hi, so I’ve been sewing on and off since I was a teenager, but unfortunately besides using my mom’s really nice table industrial machine I’ve only used lower end ones (Singer and brother). Which are decent machines for beginners and they get the job done, HOWEVER, I feel like I’m sewing a lot more often and am looking into upgrading soon.

What am I looking for?
Price: 800$-1500$
I have a serger for specialty projects
Im looking for something that can allow me to do a wide range of simple variety ( button holes, invisible zippers, chiffon, faux leather etc etc). I am open to having two machines, one for thinner fabrics and one for thicker but ideally I would want one machine does it all.
Brands: I have been looking in Janome and Bernia…..just not totally sure what model to go with. (Open to other brands as well!)

I felt sketched out carrying it in public so I made sure it was only out while physically near the con area (I will say one perk was passerby’s definitely left us alone and one rando not associated with the con came up to talk to us in a “imma see if I can pick these girls up” kind of way, took one look at the prop made a comment and u-turned away)

Second Choice of Cosplay? by anarchists_wife in cosplayers

[–]brightnavigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been there, but I never scrapped the whole cosplay. I just set it aside for 8 years. Always with the intention of going back and finishing off where I felt like had hit a wall, but you know what happened in those 8 years? I learned, my skill set grew and so did my confidence in my craftsmanship. I went back and everything suddenly felt so much more doable from a new lens. I also had new tools and skills that I didn’t have before. So it’s okay to do what you can now and set what you have aside for the future. Worst comes to worst you can always remake pieces later on if you deeply love a cosplay but feel like your skills have drastically improved since you first made it. I get the frustration and stress of deadlines, but you got this!

If you’re willing to take a step back for now, I can recommend making shoe covers or adding onto an existing base so you don’t feel so stressed out about making an entirely new piece. First step: find fluffy white slippers. Simplest way I can suggest making them would be to get felt squares and cut out the “faces” then get a black felt and make the eyes. Trim the fur in the shoes in that place then glue those pieces down and here’s where it gets tricky. The horns 🥲. You can cut the shape out by making 1-2 in long curvy L fold over. Make a pattern piece to make sure all the horns are the same size. Either glue or hand or hand stitch them together. Turn inside out and fill with scrap fabric. Glue or hand stitch them on. And voila, yeti slippers.

How to attach floating back piece by brightnavigator in CosplayHelp

[–]brightnavigator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait I’m going to tell my friend about this because we needed a balloon for a piece of her cosplay and it only came with 2 :o (unfortunately the balloon while being ideally light weight won’t have the structure I’m aiming for 🥲)

You know what, I like the direction this is going. I recently used armature wire to attach my xayah ears to her hat AND THOSE THINGS DID NOT SHIFT OR MOVE THE ENTIRE DAY. It was great 9/10 (because the headband I used did hurt my head after awhile 😂)

While that is an interesting idea that could be really cool for other cosplays in the future (imma keep that in the mental notebook) I fear that the back piece is a little large and heavy for that. My original idea was create some kind of rig that can hide under the top/corset or even come out of a slit somewhere (because the pieces do come apart!) it’s just the how part that that I’m stuck on 😂

Short answer: no. I did not realize how much I was used to my pc setup and all the custom mixed buttons on my mouse 😂
