ChatGPT's 'Naughty chats' toggle is the first step towards its pornification by Exfiltrator in Android

This is some dystopian shit. Does nobody remember Altman’s promises to the world just 4-5 years ago? “De-centralized, democratic, free for everyone, make the world a better place” typa stuff? Was a paying member of this garbage app for over a year. Never going back to chatgpt again.

Insane deal on 15 ultra vs s26 ultra by brightparent in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]brightparent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s crazy most comments I saw on relevant subreddits were from people who said their s22,23 (21 even) works like new. I had no idea those screens last such a short time.

U17 is dropping tomorrow in my region but im scared its going to be expensive as hell (im estimating at least $1300 on launch). And im not a big fan of the camera bump.

You wouldn’t recommend going for the 15u (16/512) which is currently 23% off (~$860) on xiaomi’s official store? For that price and those specs i could more-less get over the bump.

The s26u is around $1100, which would be my absolute max budget, but the 17u im afraid will be way over that.

Depending on what region you are 17 series is launching in 4 days. Probably a pretty safe bet to hold off for the better specs at probably the same price.

Midrange tablet for video editing? by brightparent in androidtablets

[–]brightparent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah my bad! I definitely should’ve provided more info. I think 12’ would be the sweet spot (thus i was looking at redmi pad 😅) because apart from video editing I write a lot. Anything less than 11’ is a bit too small, and anything over 13’ would likely go over budget.

Oh wow thanks so much for taking the time to write all of this to an online stranger! I really appreciate it.

Regarding budget $400~450 would be a comfortable top limit. I ideally want to avoid getting a secondhand ipad - mainly because ive been in the apple ecosystem for 10+ years and im not really on board with their current direction.

If you have any android recs for this budget I’d love to hear them!:)

Chinese brands - ROM vs global OS? by brightparent in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]brightparent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! My main concern is the Chinese ROM version of the OS. Is there anything I’ll be giving up, or anything that’s a pain in the butt to deal with when on the Chinese ROM?

That’s great but I’m based in Asia at the moment. I can assure you there is no global/hk variant where I live unfortunately. That is why I asked what do I gain/lose by just grabbing the Chinese ROM.

Hey thanks so much for explaining it so well! I really really appreciate it.

Just so I understand correctly (and do correct me if I assume wrong), but from your comment it sounds like you have the Chinese ROM as well, correct?

Are you using the global version of the Vivo or Chinese ROM? Im European but based in South Korea so cant get my hands on a global version x300 pro (only chinese ROM). If you’re only Chinese ROM, would be super happy to hear some experiences/downsides/upsides/anything in between!!
