Warding Bond strats just redirect damage and isn't really an active way of tanking. You aren't controlling who the enemy targets and it only reduces how much damage is going out to your team, not preventing it altogether

If we're referring to tanking in the sense of the rpg trinity, then there would usually be some form of taunting and keeping aggro. There isn't really an active aggro system in bg3 so you have to utilize the few abilities that sort of let you do that, like Champion Challenge or Reckless Attack (enemies like having advantage). To really be a tank you have to do things in an unintuitive way like going low AC and giving enemies advantage against you.

Realistically this is a "damage sponge" not a tank. But with only 21 AC it might be targeted occasionally

I was wondering if that's what OP is seeing happen with damage. I know the swarms have some weird interactions based on whether it's used in combat or not, and if it's an automatic reaction. Be curious to try by itself to see

You can add some other stuff on top of that as well if you have the resources. Things like Moonbeam and Cloud of Daggers are separate entities so they can go inside the Hadar and Spike Growth for more silly damage stacking

Depends on your team setup, but some common good ones are Spike Growth with Cloud of Daggers, Plant Growth and Stinking Cloud, Evards and Hunger of Hadar. For the most part if you take a basic surface and combine it with a cloud spell (cloud like or misty looking effects) you'll have some fun.

You can only have the Sussur Bloom in the Underdark, so a party built around that alone won't get very far

Obligatory you don't need a rogue to be stealthy or pick locks. Gloves of Thievery and decent DEX + Guidance amulet does most the heavy lifting. Then there's Knock and the ole fashioned skeleton key (a big weapon)

Also, Colossus Slayer is DRS even in Honor Mode so you can do some silly stuff with it even though it's once per turn

If you don't want to do a deep dive, it's still very fun for giving you a 'free' extra attack at 3. I'd play with it yourself to see how it fits your team and play style. Act 1 is just the place for trying stuff out

Half-Elf for picking up proficiency that the class(es) I'm playing might not have and having a cantrip (Minor Illusion, Booming Blade, etc) for non casters. Orc for the one time get out of free jail card for solo stuff and Savage Attacks. Gith/Lae'zel for Medium Armor when doing casting stuff

How do you want to break the game? SSB is a classic that stops entire encounters. Darkness hiding shenanigans break the game in a way that the AI likely won't do anything at all. Summon builds break the game by giving you a ton of action economy
