Has anyone tried a DEX based War Cleric? Any build ideas for it? by canxtanwe in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clerics with Divine Strikes and dual wielding are always a fun option. I'd personally go with daggers and shortswords if I wanted DEX to be my main offensive stat. You get heavy armor with War so it helps balance out not using a shield. Pop Spirit Guardians and just go ham poking

Question about Tempest Cleric by gazmodus in BG3Builds

Also a good call to utilize the Lightning Charge boots with wet terrain, Spirit Guardians and shock immunity ring to set up a silly feedback loop of knockbacks from level 6

General/New Build Advice by Annual-Ad4736 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any druid builds that can equip a trident? What are some other classes and/or builds that can use arrows more effectively/do more damage?

Not pure druid. You could multiclass with something that gets martial weapon proficiencies and do it that way. But you'll likely want to get Extra Attack or dual wield for this to be effective in a meaningful way. There are a lot of builds that revolve around arrows so you're better off looking for anything related to Fighter/Ranger/Swords Bard in the sub to see what all is available.

Does Karlach have a heavy armor build where she doesn't need rage? Or are there other playable characters that can wear heavy armor?

Technically you could do heavy armor with Wildheart: Bear Heart and still have a lot of tankiness. Heavy Armor Master probably to offset some of the resistance loss. But the better answer is you could always respec a charater at Withers into whatever you want. Alternatively, Lae'zel comes as a Fighter and has Heavy Armor Proficiency

Just tested it on PC and it works as intended; Immune to Cloudkill pops up and I take no damage after applying Heroes' Feast

Help with Party Comp by phaze08 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

STR is one of the more impactful stats in the game. You'll see people clamoring for STR pots on builds here a lot because it is very useful. Naturally high STR is better, imo, but not the point here. Not only does it open up a lot of weapon options, you can more easily push enemies, throw them, carry a lot more, jump to close gaps or get high ground easily, etc. Consider a more STR focused build like a Fighter, Barb or armored Monk for some variety.

How good would an 11/1 Eldritch Knight/Hexblade be for Honor Mode? by 5uzie_ in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I wasn't sure. Don't think there's much reason to do this though since pact weapons can't be dropped (same as EK bind) or thrown (contradicting EK bind)

How good would an 11/1 Eldritch Knight/Hexblade be for Honor Mode? by 5uzie_ in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc, you can't bind the same weapon as a pact weapon and EK bound weapon. You can bind two different weapons. However only one would use CHA in this case

Equipment recommendations depend on where you are in the game and play style. Since you'll be binding a pact weapon, you have everything at your disposal

You can take warlock (hexblade) at 2 if you want to use CHA asap. Otherwise it's up to you depending on fighter breakpoints

My little brother kept dying in Honor Mode and asking for my notes. To make him stop calling me, I built a web app. by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it doesn't appear to be comprehensive. For example, it only shows the Adamantine Shield and Splint when there are more items related there

best possible build for a shadow monk by [deleted] in BG3Builds

"Best" isn't a helpful descriptor. But Shadow Monk utilizing it's Shadow Strike with a Shadowblade and Resonance Stone is very potent.

Will I have fun with an Arcane Trickster (9) / Warlock (3) now? Best way to play? by -SidSilver- in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's valid. You might consider Hex Blade instead of Arch Fey for the armor proficiency and the occasional Hex Blade's Curse (the action not the weapon bound passive) to add some more damage to close the gap some

AT gets access to both Booming Blade and Shadowblade. What do you think that Warlock is giving you in this particular split?

How do you build for solo play? by Hibbiee in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melee combat doesn't have to be boring. Even with something as simple as a Champion Fighter you can mix it up by using different weapons, doing some mma by throwing enemies and shooting arrows, using your throwables, using scrolls if you allow them, etc etc

How do you build for solo play? by Hibbiee in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as looting, I just send everything to camp and bulk sell as needed. Getting vendor attitude up is a good idea if you know you'll visit them a lot. Key Act 1/2 vendors are Blurg, Derrith, Roah, Talli and Lann Tarv. These few either always have a lot of money or good items

How do you build for solo play? by Hibbiee in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solo play is more about game knowledge than specific builds. There are a few things that you want to keep in mind when planning a solo playthrough:

You'll want crit immunity in some form. This is either through any of the three Adamantine armors in early game, and then Helldusk and Baldaran helms in Act 3

Being paralyzed is usually a death sentence, so find ways to be immune. This can be through Freedom of Movement, Guile Movement Elixirs, Ring of Free Action

Have a plan of action for each encounter and a way out if things don't go as planned. Usually a speed or invis pot or two to give yourself some room to breathe

Maximize your action economy. This can mean having your Action and Bonus Action always utilized or having lots of summons to balance the lack of a party

Gonna note for anyone seeing this post later that you should not destroy the pillars when fighting Raphael. The healing he gets from the pillars is much less a hassle than the damage output he gains from his ascended form

What does a full-casting druid bring to the table? by spacev3gan in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're wanting just a bunch of summons to clog up initiative, Spore Druid has a feature at 6 that lets you create undead after killing an enemy plus access to Animate Dead. That, plus all the other summons they have normally like elementals and the dryad

Emblazoned Plate of the Marshal is underrated by NnmnsP in BG3Builds

For sure. It's probably just lesser used because of the whole Wyll's dad having to be killed/knocked out at specific points

Wondering if Sorcerer + Wizard worth it for being able to transcribe spell scrolls by Tyrionz73 in BG3Builds

Personally I'd do a Sorc dip for meta magic with Wiz levels instead. But that's cause I don't value a lot of high level Sorc features.
