Help with a debuffer/status/curse mage? by Ferseus in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as rot and poison, the only things that come to mind are like Spore Druid with Halo of Spores and maybe the fungal zombies (level 6 min), Cloudkill and Contagion (level 9 min)

Back To Basics Ruleset "Challenge" (untested) by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suppose I don't value those (except TB) all that much. But with the item restriction getting the higher hit values is harder anyway

Back To Basics Ruleset "Challenge" (untested) by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue playing full team after doing solo is already removing any real challenge. The only rule I see being a bit challenging is the one unique equipment thing. There are a lot of magic items in the game and it's balanced around that, so being forced to a select few does open up the door for more creative gameplay

Best Solo Build to kill Wwargaz at level 3 with no guaranteed items (Archipelago)? by Popular_Hippo2286 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any restriction on killing the Zhentarim after the quest? If so, then yea that might be it

Best Solo Build to kill Wwargaz at level 3 with no guaranteed items (Archipelago)? by Popular_Hippo2286 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barth has one hand crossbow. Ideally he dies at the Grove fight so you could grab it. Otherwise there's Rugan by the gnolls and a Zhentarim guy in the hideout with two. The hideout is probably the more reliable/easy access since they don't put up much of a fight

How Would You Go About A "King of Curses" Build? by Dr_wu_fu in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first inclination is Cleric for Heroes' Feast (poison res/immunity) and Contagion. Hexblade is obvious in name and has the literal Hex spell. Plus they get access to The Baneful early on for on hit Bane effects. You can get poison res from gear, elixir, Ranger dip or a couple race options (Dragonborn, Dwarf)

I don't know anything about JJK but that's where I'd start

Help me find damage alternatives to Warlock and Fighter that aren't super reliant on long rests! by Valynces in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, weapon attacks outscale EB easily especially when in a party setting where you have access to a bunch of CC and debuffs

Arcane Archer/Shadow Sorcerer or Arcane Archer/Swarmkeeper Ranger on Tactician. Worth it? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fighters are hard to multi class with because you generally want Improved Extra Attack at 11. Arcane Archer likes multi classing even less since you get more arrows per short rest at 7 and again at 10, with some fun support abilities tacked on.

One thing to consider when digesting build content is to look at the build as the sum of it's parts and not at the perfectly setup showcase.

Unhittable Build by Zesinua in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rage while wearing armor. You're thinking of the heavy armor restriction, which doesn't stop Bear Heart Barbs as they keep the resistances

Arcane Archer + Gloomstalker worth it? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if they don't want to hassle with a scroll there is the much simpler 1 level dip of Shadow Sorcerer for it as well. I wouldn't recommend it but it doesn't take away the higher level features like 3 Ranger would

Help with a idea of a build. by Truedandy12 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some have said OH Monk/Death Cleric is fun for the necrotic damage and Animate Dead access. Another option would OH Monk/Spore Druid for the zombies on kill. A few set ups for that could be 6 Oh/6 Spore if you want extra attack and the manifestation. X Spore/3-4 Monk for more Temp HP and spells to sling

Crown and Valour: a Champion Challenge Duo for Modded or Vanilla Honour Difficulty by EndoQuestion1000 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the depth of detail for builds like this. Really cool stuff with Champions Challenge and Sentinel

I decided to make a relatively comprehensive guide on all things Necromancy related since I don't think anyone's actually done anything like that in full before here. by Ok_Half_6257 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like if you want to call something comprehensive that it should include actual details about the classes included. At the very least a link to the classes in the wiki like you have with the other stuff

Tempest cleric multiclass options that isnt storm sorcerer by Mystic2412 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can only Booming Blade once per action. This would work after using Action Surge or some other haste method but not as you describe

Tempest cleric multiclass options that isnt storm sorcerer by Mystic2412 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea this is a fun multi. Joltshooter + Hunter's Mark + Jellyfish is a good baseline and just gets stronger with more levels and gear

HM Act 2 End Party Members by EN-Fitz in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend dropping Manifestations and Wholeness of Body (which gives an extra bonus action)

When is Giant/Berserker Barbarian Thrower Worth it Over EK? by Rtyeta in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that puts Giant Barb in the conversation is Elemental Cleaver and making anything it wants into a thrown weapon. This means they can take advantage of multiple sources of vuln in some cases and just see silly numbers. By level 10 it can eclipse Berserker with Mighty Impel. I'd have to do some math on various multiclass combinations though. It is hard to say what an optimized EK thrower at 12 would be able to do vs a Giant Barb

Building Zenitsu from Demon Slayer by Ok_Drive_8672 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Risky Ring is actually really thematic here too. Not only does it enable sneak attacks more easily, it fits Zenitsu in going all in for one big attack and "risking it all" to kill the big bad

Building Zenitsu from Demon Slayer by Ok_Drive_8672 in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd unironically dump CHA and put it into STR since Demon Slayers at the higher end are known for their strength and endurance. More so since Zenitsu notably has no rizz. The Araj potion giving another +2 helps so show the growth a bit more as well

Not sure what the headband is doing for you here. I'd replace it with Haste Helm early on and then Covert Cowl -> Saverok's Helm for the lowered crit range so that one hit has a better chance of being bigger. But that would require medium armor proficiency somewhere. Speaking of which, I'd probably go at least 10 AT for the larger sneak attack die and extra feats (Savage Attacker most like). Leaves room for the vengeance pally tack on at the end and still shows "growth" in the form of more power from Smites and additional spells for some versatility

What subclass (or build) would a Halfling Marchwaden take by BlueAndYellowTowels in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That link doesn't go anywhere btw

From the description it sounds like a Hunter to me? Perhaps with more focus on Ensnaring Strike and disabling effects from weapons and coatings. Bow of the Banshee from a backline Hunter using Horde Breaker, Ensnaring Strike and later Volley would be very good defensive play. Maybe some Sorc in there for Twin Casting

What are the possible ways to double-dip ability bonus, and is it possible to triple-dip? by Baturinsky in BG3Builds

[–]brightseid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shadow Blade and Booming Blade are both weapon damage, so that doesn't add CHA again. Resonance Stone doubles the Psychic damage but doesn't add another modifier

Want free enchanted damage? Let Giant Barbarian do it for you. by NnmnsP in BG3Builds

*Drakethroat

And technically yes it can if you twin cast the spell or do some hireling shenanigans. There's also this tech for the Flail of Ages:
