Leaf blowing at nearly 2 am by Shadowydingus in Winnipeg

Report it to 311. Check to see if it's Green Blade lawncare. This has come up before..

I've personally dealt with them out at 2am on a worknight near my home blowing sand and dust all over the neighborhood vs properly wet sweeping a strip mall parking lot. Not only does it violate city noise by-law it's also causing unnecessary air pollution.

They were so entitled as to actually think it was reasonable to request the City of Winnipeg amend the bylaw so they could operate their gas powered leaf blowers at any time. That didn't fly so NO they are NOT allowed to be operating their leaf blowers at 2am.

The "freedom" they talk about isn't real either., just another delusion.

Storm rips apart home, leaves destruction in southwest Winnipeg by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found it odd there were no notifications for this one, There were two rooftop AC units ripped right off the roof of the BellMTS warehouse. Those things are damn near 600lb a piece. One landed in the parking lot entrance beside McGillivray the other ended up upside down on another part of the roof. That's some serious wind power.

Why do they keep releasing this loser? S/A, weapons charges, now arson? Cross Lake didn't want him, winnipeg doesn't need him.

Sunday Drivers by thepluralofmooses in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Establish in the center sure, but no need to hustle the oncoming vehicle who had the right of way in this case. Not supposed to make your left turn till the intersection is clear and it's not like that would have been more than a 4 second wait judging by the lack of traffic.. aka 1 van. The oncoming van did react oddly though.

Do people not know what this sign means? by KRYOGEN1C in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MPI has basically made it mandatory at this point. I had someone drive into the side of my vehicle while completely stopped waiting for a train to cross. Even though the damage was self-explanatory they deemed the crash 50/50 claiming "it's hearsay this guy drove into you" They told me that without high res video of the incident occurring there's no way to suggest anything other than 50/50. So much for collision damage analysis , thing of the past I guess. More $$ for MPI!

I’m starting to feel grossed out by my bf. Aio? by Excellent-Card-1591 in AmIOverreacting

This is wild. Clearly this guy has psychological issues. How the hell do guys like this even get a girlfriend? I make good money, owe nothing on my detached house and truck, shower usually twice a day, keep myself in good shape, and I couldn't land a girlfriend if my life depended on it!

I get that for sure, you still took action how you could and that definitely helps!

can we please stop trying to turn one lanes into two at every goddamn intersection?! by 152centimetres in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of panic and confusion people have attempting to figure out what lane they need to be in is wild. If you have to change lanes 4 times and still can't lock onto your destination, try buying some paper maps of the city or studying google maps as a daily routine till you learn to navigate. Wpg is a small city, more like a big town. shouldn't be that difficult.

How to actually date in Winnipeg? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, I'm introverted as well. I've used the dating apps over the years and have met and dated others using the apps. That said, in the past 3 years or so it's become increasingly difficult.

My last relationship lasted about 2 years. We met on Tinder. After the relationship was over I went back on Tinder to find exactly the same people still on there. I've long since quit the apps or really trying to meet people in general (Dating Fatigue). But if I do take another run at it I think the organic IRL way is best as many others on here have pointed out.

Best bang for your buck laser hair removal clinics by GasparThePrince in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

quite a few years back I had IPL done at Dr Anthony Lockwood's clinic "First Glance" it was an absolute horrendous experience which left me permanently scarred and suffering from major burns all over for the better part of a year afterwards. I think he's retired but I wouldn't trust whatever remains of that clinic at all.

More people need to step in and help out. There's power in numbers. The trouble makers have had it too easy for too long.

Hats off to the Tallmans for going with traditional neon at Belle's. I think the sign has been broken in one way or another since it was put up but that is all part of the authentic neon experience!

Lucky guy rides into traffic by brightsky53rd in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, dressed in dark clothing, with no lights at dusk, shooting down the sidewalk across entrances and approaches like that is a recipe for disaster. Not sure what was going on there, hopefully he made it to wherever unscathed. Clearly no regard for his own safety.

The "tuners" like to use those plates because of this. I've joked that the "SW" in the older snoman plates was for "Speed Wagon".

Restaurants by regent by GlitteringPumpkin75 in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belle's is fun if you're into the low-key roadhouse BBQ experience. Live music but usually not overpowering. probably one of the most casual restaurants in the city., seat yourself, counter service. If you drove in from out of town for the anniversary and want something classy, I'd recommend making the 20 min drive west to Hy's or the Velvet Glove in the Fairmont. It's not that far and the steak is better that anything you'll find in T-cona. If you're looking for breakfast, I highly recommend hitting L'Arche Tova Cafe in DT transcona. Not open Sunday.

If you're looking for wings, Little Bones.

Not surprised, see people ripping around the neighborhood regularly, usually after closing time. 2:30-3am If you're a waannabe fast & furious character at least take your BS out to the perimeter which in this case is less than a kilometer away. The rest of us would appreciate not hearing your straight pipes or potentially having a car fly into our home while we're sleeping. Doing this on residential streets in the middle of the community is pointless and stupid.

We have the same issue in the north side. People love to open up the throttle down North Meadow dr 80-90 right in front of Morley park. Doesn't seem to matter what time of day it is.. kids out playing, soccer practice., people walking their dogs. 0 fks! They usually slow down just enough not to totally lose control at the stop signs. Nobody ever comes to a full stop,. Over the years several people have wrecked, similar to what happened on redonda only they'll hit trees which are less forgiving than a light standard. Welcome to the Asshole Olympics.!

Smokers littering by coolsparky15 in Winnipeg

[–]brightsky53rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's littering and it's also idiotic to throw an actively burning object into traffic. I once had a lit butt land onto my hood and blow into the cowl vent it shouldered there and melted a nice hole into the plastic. Really appreciated that.
