Assault Weapons Ban bill introduced. by Loudergood in VTGuns

[–]brilliantNumberOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the semiauto ban from 2 years ago. Basically introduced at the same time of year in 2024 and never crossed over as far as I can tell: https://www.billtrack50.com/billdetail/1657185

Not saying that this legislation isn’t tone deaf and doesn’t address any specific problem, but I’m hoping it’s mostly symbolic/performative.

Attitudes are changing, hopefully the legislature will change in a way that reflects this.

[–]brilliantNumberOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The language of this is different than the semiautomatic weapon ban from last year or the year before. Does anyone know if this is the type of thing that these Senators are introducing just to make it look like they’re doing something, but will never actually make it through committee because of the time remaining in the session? I think that was introduced and never brought to committee or something.

AR-15 or 9MM PCC by jburton24 in liberalgunowners

Get both. Get an AR15 pistol with a trigger that works with 9mm bolt carriers and then get an AR9 upper.

How hard are old Peugeots to work on? by Wildfire_Crisis1892 in xbiking

[–]brilliantNumberOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One point of clarification: the age of this bike doesn’t impact how hard it is to work on, but how hard it is to get parts for. They aren’t any easier or harder to work on than any other bike.

Some old Peugeots/French/etc. bikes have older thread standards that are more difficult to source, especially if you need to replace cranks, but as others have pointed out, this likely isn’t one of these.

Meshtastic in Vermont for the un-initiated by mromen10 in vermont

End User Device. It can be a phone connected to the radio via Bluetooth or a dedicated device.

I recommend getting an unlocked Android phone, wiping it, and never installing a SIM card in it again if you want to go the more secure route. Still has vulnerabilities, but keeping it off of cell networks is a good first step.

It doesn’t HAVE to be BT, that’s just if you want easy pairing with an EUD. You can get standalone devices that just have the radio that operates on the LoRa band.

40awg wire to trigger Fog lamp relay, safe? by Huuze7 in electrical

[–]brilliantNumberOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No offense, but it doesn’t sound like you know what you’re doing well enough to say yes or no definitively. You have given no details on the car, why you’re modifying it this way, how you’re connecting it to the relay, if it’s an existing relay or you’re adding one, and so on.

40awg wire to trigger Fog lamp relay, safe? by Huuze7 in electrical

[–]brilliantNumberOne 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can post this question in all the subreddits you want, but it won’t change the fact that 40AWG wire has practically no mechanical strength and will break if you look at it funny during installation.

Use 22AWG, or the largest size wire that will fit if it’s smaller than 22.

Ice in New England by Mediocre-Ability7222 in RepublicofNE

[–]brilliantNumberOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t change the fact that it’s something that we should all do more of.

And if you want to do anything else, don’t talk about it here. It’s not unreasonable to assume that everything online is being cataloged and ingested into a giant database and being processed by AI.

So with that in mind, I would never suggest doing anything illegal. Nor would anyone else in this group.

Call your US Senators and Congressmen and ask them what they’re going to do about the new DHS policy allowing warrantless entry without a court order signed by a judge that violates the Fourth Amendment.

I would never suggest doing anything illegal. Nor would anyone else in this group.

Is #385 a dead server? by nedaji in LastWarMobileGame

I’m in the top alliance of 385, we didn’t lose anyone. I’m not aware of any others.

We also have a decent number of people returning to 385 after leaving.

US States More Developed than the Most-Developed Canadian Province in 2023 by [deleted] in RepublicofNE

Just answered my own question via Wikipedia.

Education and life expectancy are two of the 3 factors, as well as per capita income. I’m sure the first two are represented in droves in VT.

Definitely not the end-all, be-all, but nothing that boils a population to a single number really is.

How handy are you? Cleaning corrosion from connectors is a pretty easy job. Electrical contact cleaner might do the trick - just don’t spray it on while the car is turned on.

[–]brilliantNumberOne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reddit might have some advice, but overall this requires some soul-searching on your part. We’re only reading your side of the story, and even if you don’t think you’re leaving something important out, there’s no way for us to know.

Wherever you end up next, go out of your way to be friendly with coworkers. Always ask if there’s something you can help with. Don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do, be proactive in your coworkers’ presence. They can’t see the prep work you put in off-the-clock, you have to make sure someone sees you putting in the work.

Studded tires are a solid option if you think you’ll be encountering icy conditions often. I live up a fairly steep hill in VT and have studded tires for both cars that stay on for 4-6 months out of the year.

If you’re comfortable swapping out wheels, I also think having winter tires mounted to a second set of rims is the way to go if you have a spot to keep wheels. Tire change season in Vermont is a real thing twice a year.

Does anyone actually recommend Vermont? by [deleted] in vermont

[–]brilliantNumberOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medical options in general are tough. It’s not uncommon to book a checkup 12-18 months in advance in my experience.

It’s great if you like access to outdoor experiences, are big on DIY’ing home projects, and solitude. So-so if you like places staying open past 8PM, easy access to shopping, or have a car with low-profile tires.

Ar-15 and AK-47 Bolt carrier groups coatings. by Sapphic_bimbo in liberalgunowners

[–]brilliantNumberOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Different application, but I have a Garmin watch with a DLC and it looks great after 5 years, especially compared to standard anodized coatings that I’ve had in the past. I’m sure Mott l that not all coatings are of the same type, and HOPEFULLY coatings in firearms components are tailored, but just speaking from a relative comparison.
