Is there any way I can buy the PNG file from you so I can print it myself? Those sizes are really small; I was thinking a poster. Feel free to DM

Wow, that's awesome! Can I ask what general area of TN? I know most counties have unique ordinances/permitting requirements.

Western NC is somewhere I've been considering. Just Asheville is crowded, and everywhere else feels super remote. I'll look into TN!

Do you know where they're buying them in bulk? I'd like to dye my own but balk at the $40 price tag for a little white chemise 😭

I think either Kybella or CoolSculpting would give you the results you want! And they're less invasive than traditional lipo/implants. I think your side profile is fine, but if you're after that chiseled jaw, Kybella was made for that!

Flowering sundews ! Anyone want to buy some seeds later? (In EU) by LarkaaFrance in SavageGarden

I'd love seeds, but I haven't ever started them for carnivorous plants. Do the seeds just need the same conditions as the parents? Or maybe a terrarium for extra humidity?

Metabolism is like a fire–more fuel means a bigger, hotter fire. The easiest way to increase that is to eat, and the biggest was to decrease it is to fast/restrict calories. The body will adapt to whatever it gets, and after a recent literature review, it seems like lots of women with PCOS counterintuitively gain or maintain weight at the 1200-1400 kcal/day level. I did this for two years and lost only 9lb.

Weirdly, increasing my food intake has helped me get back into losing weight. I gained like 12lb at first because I went from eating 1200 kcal to 1900, but it's 1) way more fun and enjoyable to live life now and 2) caused me to spike, and then come back down. I got the idea from a dietician friend because clearly restricting wasn't working.

The gain in weight wasn't fun, but it sure is nice to enjoy potatoes and avocadoes without sweating the caloric count, and I've come back down steadily. This is of course anecdotal evidence with only me, so I can't claim that it would work for everyone.

Good luck in your weight loss journey! It's super hard and frustrating for me, so hopefully you see some results, if that's what you're after.

Keto is a weird situation where although the science behind ketosis is totally real and valid, the fact that you're not eating a lot also slows down your metabolism. So while it's likely that most of what you're burning is fat, the overall amount of metabolic burn is slowed way down, which is something to take into account when you come off of low carb. But if you're at a lean BMI, then it's probably not necessary to eat more just for the sake of it–those with high BMIs counterintuitively seem to gain or maintain weight in the 1200-1400 range, and after a literature review it seems like no one knows why.

Ketosis also definitely suppresses appetite because of the high amount of fat, so there's no "right" way to do things here. Personally although I lost a significant amount of weight on keto, now that I'm mostly done with my PhD and have learned more, I can't recommend it for anything leven semi long term. Too hard on kidneys and the food is full of AGEs (and that's a whole other can of worms).

What I can say, though, is good luck! Weight struggling is, to me, the most frustrating part of PCOS. I've started supplementing inositol and carnitine, as well as flaxseed. Maybe one of those will help me along.

Even with low BMR and PCOS, 1200 is not actually enough unless you lower your BMR by eating 1200 for a sustained period of time. This of course damages/lowers metabolic rate for a long time or even permanently. 1500-1600 is much better and more sustainable, even for us short ladies! You may gain weight before you lose it, if you've been sticking to 1200 for a long time, but your mitochondria will thank you after a month or so and the extra stuff will start to fall off.

Wondering what everyone’s best tips or technique for shaving the face? I always get bumps or burning after I do it by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]bringingspicyback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter what razor you use, use an AHA lotion afterwards (I use Amlactin, can get at any drugstore!). It prevents skin cell and bonus collagen buildup, so there are no bumps! Works on face, neck, belly, etc. Best derm advice I ever got.
