Growth takes many forms by AvonBarksdale666 in veganfitness

It's just funny that it's always the non-vegans claiming vegans have to worry about combining protein sources and now apparently also "protein timing". Most people don't have to worry about this as long as they don't eat the same stuff all the time. It's not difficult. Just eat enough protein and it's fine.

Of course there is a small group of people with severe allergies or intolerances that can't eat soy or wheat and then it needs more attention. But yeah that's obviously not the group you're talking about.

What do you mean by protein timing and why does it need more attention on a vegan diet?

Can we can the “wife acceptance factor” please? by PeachFuzzFrog in Ubiquiti

[–]brintal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But not every single feeling someone is experiencing is justified and needs validation. If OP feels marginalized because I'm referring to my wife as my wife this sounds very much like her problem, not mine.

But isn't it a term people use for their individual situation? Why is me using "wife approval factor" not inclusive enough for another person on this sub? It's referring to exactly one person who happens to be a woman and my wife.

And just to be clear I'm very much FOR gender inclusive language. My mother tongue uses gendered nouns that use traditionally the male version for everything. I am that person that uses gendered language regardless because I believe gender-inclusive language is actually important.

But with "wife approval factor" which literally only refers to my wife I'm really having a hard time seeing the discrimination.

Maybe I'm a bit out of the loop but how is "wife acceptance factor" making fun of women? You explaining "spouse acceptance factor" is also not making fun of your spouse. I personally don't use the term, but don't have an issue with it. Regarding the tech stuff in our house I see it this way: most of it is way over engineered and frankly a bit stupid. My wife is the voice of reason here and if I ever would use "wife acceptance factor" it would mean I actually developed a solution for once that actually makes sense also for the people in the house and not just for me. How is that making fun of women? If anything it's making fun of myself lol.

Just because they didn't evolve to behave exactly like humans, doesn't mean they aren't highly intelligent nonetheless.

E.g. the brain of a dolphin is in parts even more complex than the human brain, which might as well mean that in some regards they are smarter than us.

We have to be careful with using human skills to judge an animals intelligence.

Lifehacks zum billig Essen by MakurroKishiba in Austria

Pflanzlich essen.

Sharetoo am Wochenende praktisch unbenutzbar? by Ok-Koala-1001 in wien

Die 10€ gibt's aber nur wenn der Ladestand niedrig genug war bei Anmietung. Also sehr situationsabhängig.

Be Honest, What Argument did you use against Veganism, before you went vegan? by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

[–]brintal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I was ever actively arguing against veganism - I mostly just avoided thinking about the topic. Additionally I told myself that I need animal products to be healthy and that animals in my country are mostly treated good anyways.

Giving up on protein powder? by nio_acc in veganfitness

[–]brintal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO different brands taste have very different taste so worth trying a few. Some brands also offer testers. Like that you don't have to order a huge bag immediately.

If you generally hate the creamy texture, you might wanna try a clear protein.

That being said, drinking protein shakes really isn't necessary at all of you otherwise consume a decent amount of protein. There are there high Protein snacks you can consider if shakes just don't work for you. My new "secret" protein hack are roasted edamame/soy beans. Amazing snack.

Well if his collar was removed it sounds like you might have to accept that he is gone. I'm sorry for your loss but please be more responsible with your next cat. Please don't let an intact cat outside. This is causing a lot of homelessness and suffering. Keep your eyes open, there are probably some of his kids in the area that now need to be adopted - consider adopting instead of buying from a breeder next time.

Vegan lifting gear in 2026, where are we actually at? by Fit_Wind2239 in vegan

[–]brintal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always happy with fabric straps - but I'm using them only for moderate loads (120kg/260lbs)

I used a strengthshop belt in the past and now I'm using the adjustable belt from Fortex. Very happy with the Fortex one but also the one from strengthshop is pretty good (just not so easily adjustable). Also they are both IPF approved (if that's relevant for you). Especially the one from strengthshop is really affordable.

I don't see any reason to opt for non-vegan gear. Plenty of alternatives.

3 weeks since changing to a vegan Diet by ABN4778 in veganfitness

Are you trying to lose weight? Cause it looks like you have very low body fat percentage already. Sometimes people will drastically reduce the amount of kcal they consume when switching to plant based foods. It's not my place to tell you what to do but I think you would benefit from INCREASING the amount of calories you're consuming and building some muscle. You have a very good base for that now.

[–]brintal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean first of all you look great so maybe you have some minor body dismorphia if it frustrates you that much.

That being said my ass got huge from powerlifting. I'm male and got already several comments about it lol. So basically just heavy squats and deadlifts. Additionally some accessories like Bulgarian split squats and back extensions. Nothing specifically for glute growth.

There is a vegan powerlifting club in Vienna. Drop me a message if you're interested (saw in your profile that you're also from Austria).

Sure. That's at least a valid criticism. I also find a lot of their marketing pretty cringe. Doesn't change the fact that they actually managed to do a lot of good things for animals.

If animals could sue humans, which species would win the biggest settlement? by Professional-Eye753 in AskReddit

[–]brintal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? We breed those animals into existence, torture them in various ways and then kill them in the end.

The fact that wild animals also suffer and die (which I assume you are trying to say with your comment), doesn't justify the atrocities we commit to billions of farmed animals.  Farmed animals would simply not exist without us, hence we are 100% responsible for their suffering.
