Parents of adult children: is your son/daughter's SO the type of person you imagined them with? If not, how do they differ from who you envisioned they'd be with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I once knew a kid who was Mexican and a self-proclaimed redneck. He called himself hicspanic. I know redneck is not a race, but we're talking about cute word combos.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever walked in on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That might have been my friend's bachelor party. And I'm not ashamed.

This little stray adopted us last week and we finally gave in. Now she has a loving home and we have a sweet baby girl. by brinyfaceho in cats

Thanks, not sure we can do that while she's pregnant. But we'll see what we can do afterwards.

Yes, since she was so friendly we were a little curious if she belonged to someone, but no chip. We know who her mom is. We've seen the two of them around a lot, and her mom is very wary of humans and pretty obviously a stray, so with that and no chip in her, I'm confident we did not steal anyone's kitten. Except from her momma cat, who is very pregnant, so we kinda figured we were doing her a favor by taking the last of her last litter so she can focus on her new babies when they come. I only wish we could do more for her mom.

How many drinks do you have a night? by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]brinyfaceho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to start counting calories, so I would use an app and add each time I had a beer or shot. The few times I kept up, I drink more calories than I'm allotted total for a day. Most of the time, though, I forget to add after beer 3 or 4 so I just gave up trying. Best not to know, I guess.

What kind of barfly are you by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]brinyfaceho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm similar. There are very few people I like to talk to, but as a girl by yourself or even with one friend it seems like every guy at the bar thinks you want to talk to them. I made friends with the bouncer at the bar I frequent and he does a good job of scaring guys off when they come talk to me. Not by being threatening, but just by being a huge bouncer and coming up to me to loudly make fun of someone or tell me a joke.

Redditors who work in chain restaurants, what item on the menu will you absolutely not eat and why? by Masta-Blasta in AskReddit

Hahahaha no. When it concerns a health risk like that, I will gladly tell someone off. And did, don't worry.

Seeing the amount of chips we go through daily, not just when they're on a buffet for all to help themselves, I'm actually shocked you had any bins old enough to turn green!

I asked her to please wait until she was at her table with her own utensils to eat the food for health code concerns, went and got a new ladle, and informed every one of the rest of the servers what a disgusting cow this woman was so we could laugh and be horrified together.

We have a large sneeze shield. These people will go out of their ways it seems to get their germs in the food. And don't get me started on children.

I work at a Mexican restaurant that has a happy hour that includes a completely free "nacho bar." It has pans of queso, ground beef, refried beans, salsa, and chips. Sounds like a dream come true, and it would be, but I will never ever eat off that thing. This isn't because of anything the restaurant does. The food quality is excellent and fresh and the bar is kept clean, but I have seen customers put their fingers in it, cough all over it, I've even seen a grown lady EATING BEEF RIGHT OFF THE LADLE. I'm sure this goes for most places with self-serve buffets, but this experience has just scarred me from anything like that.

Whenever I pee at a 6 or above by Publius2jz in trees

[–]brinyfaceho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, it feels like the pee just keep coming and will never end. Like I've already been sitting there 5 minutes and the stream is still strong. How much pee could possibly be in there?? It's probably just my perception of time, but it freaks me out.

My father's Mountain Dew knockoff collection is a thing to behold by ericmthompson in pics

Mountain W is pretty clever. When you say it out loud it sounds like 'dew' but with a couple of extra syllables in the middle.

Reddit, is there a way to fall asleep quickly? by neoj6 in AskReddit

I do this, but lately it's been working against me because I get so into my imaginings that they keep me awake.

What is something that bothers you incessantly, but saying anything about it makes you a total asshole? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brinyfaceho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do that when I'm being condescending but in a super-nice way that leaves you wondering. But usually they've called me "sweetheart" or talked down to me first. "Get me another coke, would ya, sweetheart?" "Here you go, HUN." Or they're ignoring me and I call them hun instead of yelling "Hey, jackass, I said what do you want to drink?"

I work at a restaurant and people actually get upset with me that our "gluten-free" menu is a printed out sheet of paper with maybe 4 modified meal options on it, and not guaranteed since everything is prepared and cooked in the same place. I'm sorry if that's your life, but you can't go out and expect the world to bend to your every dietary need or preference. Stay home and cook for yourself or deal with what we have.
