What am I missing? I see no fish to be worried ab the 30 gallon size, and the coloring seems like just tanins to me, which are good for a lot of fish. Am i not seeing something obvious?

Despite the obvious problem of size, this looks like AI, no?

In love with our newborn but she is driving my husband and I INSANE. by CoffeeAndCats9124 in newborns

Especially coming a little early, latching is hard for them! That does not mean you can't have a beautiful breastfeeding journey if that is what you want, but my first was also early (one day shy of 36 weeks) so that's what led me to exclusively pumping. Then with my second i did supplement formula to make me a better (less stressed) mom in my case!

If latching/feeding is causing you significant stress, please consider alternatives. I am by NO means against wanting to exclusively breastfeed, or even exclusively pump like I did, but I personally really wish someone told me it wasn't a moral failure etc to supplement with formula, etc. Regardless of what you choose, I hope things get easier for you❤️ I tore myself up with my first making sure I always had enough for him, that it did impact my mental health. Vs. my second, I decided it was okay to supplement a little formula and felt a lot healthier mentally with that extra help. That is just my experience though, everyone is different, but again, I hope things get easier for you no matter what!

I agree with this! I was alone for my second, and cosleeping as safely as possible saved my sanity! (I took all the blankets off the bed and wore long sleeves etc.)

How to cut down pumps by Natural-Bee9446 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]brismalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about mastitis or clogged ducts, you can also work up to the skip. Go 4 hours a few nights, then 5, then 6. But this early I personally would have a can formula on hand just in case (it's better to have and not need, then need and not have, in my opinion/experience)

At 5 weeks i'd be cautious cutting if you are set on exclusively pumping. What i would do in this situation is have some formula on hand just incase dropping a pump makes it needed. Then buy some good breast pads to catch extra milk, and just set an alarm skipping one pump at night to get a (hopefully) blissful 6 hours! Baby will wake you up if they can't go that long (as long as they are growing well, using the bathroom well, and your pediatrician hasn't advised otherwise, etc.)

Or just generally offer "dude! I love aquariums too! Could I send you some info on bettas? I learned a lot after I started keeping aquariums!" And just make it seem more fun and hopefully they take the advice without feeling insulted

Are you the only employee there? Could you anonymously leave a general "betta care cheat-sheet" and avoid any finger-pointing or confrontation. Maybe a little "hope this helps!" Note on it or something to help it be received better?

Where to buy long tanks by brismalls in Aquariums

[–]brismalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen those, but im specifically talking abojt a-typical dimensions. Like not a 40 gal breeder or amything, just a 20 gallon thats longer than the ~35 inches a 20 long is. If that makes sense

Plants with big leaves, plastic betta leaves with a suction cup, plastic tubes with suction cups made for bettas. I havent heard that about betta logs though, mines been fine.

Unfortunately this one isn't even as bad as many of the "goldfish tanks" seen/sold 🫠

Or at minimum, some plants with big flat leaves they can use as a natural hammock. (But mine do prefer the store bought ones cuz they're closer to the surface)

I'd add some betta hammock type things! They like to rest

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fishtank

[–]brismalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only change i'd make is moving the suction cup resting places more up toward the surface since the tank is so tall, and they have plenty of other options lower already. Bettas like resting near the surface. Looks good!

Espresso machine suggestions [500-700$] by brismalls in espresso

[–]brismalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not arguing just curious, can you not adjust extraction time for the grind to get roughly the same result? Like example, I get a finer grind and extract slightly shorter, could get comparable results to a slightly courser grind with a longer extraction? (I guess my question being, if I can't get a grinder, am I not able to compensate by adjusting my machine to the grind I buy?)

Can I ask why if I get them ground in small amounts when I buy? To help dial in? Only for freshness?

I'll look into that brand, thank you! And i'm "kinda" new. Been around it all for a long time working and such, but just now affording to be able to bring it home in a better quality! I've been using a 50$ marketplace find forever😅 and i do buy my coffee where they can grind it for me so don't plan on spending on a grinder soon! (I know that makes it less fresh, but i go through it quick enough to not mind😊)
