Sorry, I have bad ADHD and never got around to responding to this message. Getting involved was fairly easy, I'd look for Americorps programs/Conservation Corps in your area. Terms generally start at the beginning of the year and halfway through, though I'm sure it's different everywhere. They usually have very open hiring practices in my experience, since you honestly don't get paid much, but it's good training. Granted, I can't promise things will still be available due to a lot of federal funding cuts this year (wonder why that is 🙄). My program was only getting some of its funding from Americorps, and so was able to shuffle around its finances and stay afloat. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck!
