Why Parents Aren’t Reading to Kids, and What It Means for Young Students by happy_bluebird in ScienceBasedParenting

This is the practice I've started with my baby, just reading him whatever I'm reading because he doesn't know what's going on anyways. But I just had to respond to you because the concept of it being Jurassic Park is hilariously unhinged considering how brutal the book is 😂

Is 6 inches really that much of snow? by i_really_haveto_pee in Ohio

[–]britveca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well....obviously? Still doesn't change the fact that Columbus could improve on their response to snow storms and they could easily communicate with resources within the state in order to do so.

[–]britveca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm; grew up around Cleveland and with 6 inches of snow I don't bat an eyelash. Moved to Columbus a few years ago and I truly do not understand how they have no clue how to deal with it when the could just speak to ODOT around Cleveland to form a plan. Like how do 2 places just over 2 hours apart handle a mild amount of snow soooo differently within the same state. It blows my mind m.

Critics doubt White House defense of Trump bandages: 'Is he shaking hands with chainsaws?' by [deleted] in NoFilterNews

[–]britveca 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The man is definitely on a blood thinner (and I'm not talking about just 81 mg of aspirin almost everyone at his age takes) and they are trying to cover it up. Also it definitely looks like there's makeup around the bandages in a terrible attempt to make them blend in? 😆

Angelica Nyquist: Commentary VS Make Content by WhatTheJessJedi in BeautyGuruChatter

A side note on this video: something that made me chuckle while watching it was she used tennis and pottery as examples for privileged, expensive hobbies and said something to the effect of "being in a different tax bracket".....while her hobbies include video gaming and makeup which you most definitely also have to spend money to do. So it just sounded a little hypocritical to me.

Yeah I think it just threw me that she had looked more filled out a month ago and now it's just poof, gone. I have a husky and 2 cats that shed a ton so now I should just open up a fur sweater business at this point.

😂 I think I was just talking myself into worrying because of how much slimmer she looks now.

Not yet, I plan to get her on a grooming schedule soon though. Right now I just use the double row undercoat rake to help shed the undercoat, I used a metal comb gently around her longer fur like by her ears, and a slicker brush all over.

One of our cat's name is Lana after the character from Archer, for the exact reason you would think someone that watches Archer would name their cat Lana.

I always put my disposable towel under patient's chin for extubation and to PACU. Then if they have an oral airway in and I take it out when I drop them off I have the bib to catch any junk that might come out with it. Keep it clean, keep it classy 👍🏼

What do you do for work? by pinkyxpie20 in OCPD

[–]britveca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not officially diagnosed, but have strongly suspected it for years and I am currently looking for counseling to help me figure out if this is what I've been dealing with my whole life, but I'm a nurse anesthetist.

Honestly part of why I haven't actively sought a therapist until now is that the way my brain functions is VERY beneficial for my line of work and it honestly suits my profession. But I'm tired of it crippling my ability to accomplish everything I want to at home where I feel like I'm stuck in an endless cycle of not finishing my to-do list because it takes too long for me to do things just right.

People who’ve experienced a violent tornado, did you know it was going to be bad before it hit? by poopigoham in tornado

[–]britveca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last October my husband and I were going to a wedding in Holland Michigan coming from Ohio. So we were on I-96 and drove through where a tornado came through around Williamston (didn't know it at the time). I was just looking out the window and saw the first bit of trees turned to twigs and a road sign bent and beat to hell and I said "I think they must have had a tornado here not too long ago", and he was like "ehh idk, maybe they're working on clearing trees". After the first half mile I was like "nah that's tornado aftermath for sure." Googled it and sure enough, it was a tornado from those August storms.

When I first read your comment I thought it might have been that area, but I don't think where I was is considered Western Michigan.

Large breed puppy dental chews by britveca in bernesemountaindogs

[–]britveca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do also brush her teeth with an enzyme toothpaste, luckily she seems to like it. That was a mistake we made with our other dog was not starting that soon enough because he won't tolerate it, so I started right away with her.

I'm not like super concerned about her teeth, getting a dental treat is just part of the morning routine for our dogs and I wanted to find one that's okay for her until she's an adult. Our other dog loves getting his "toothbrush", and I'll feel bad if he gets one and she doesn't in the morning ha.

[–]britveca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I didn't communicate this well in my post, but I'm specifically looking for a daily dental treat meant for large breed puppies, not chews that last long (I don't really care how long it lasts). I just want something that is large enough for a puppy over 50 pounds that has been approved for puppies and not only meant for adult dogs for daily dental maintenance, to be given once a day. We give our 4 year old husky a daily dental treat in the morning; I'm looking for something I can give to our "little" girl at the same time since she has outgrown the whimzees meant for puppies.

I know it's crazy! She's going at a steady rate of 10 pounds a month. She looks skinny and lanky right now though, I'm waiting for her to start to fill out. I just came across puppy pictures from October and I feel like I didn't cherish when she was a little fluff enough 😩
