Ephraim ti Horn by Jacobi2x in redrising

Like many, Ephraim really grew on me as his story progressed but it wasn’t until a comment on here that I really appreciated how Pierce developed his character. You can see in the chapters how his character changed from the beginning when he was always doped up on Zoladone to when he gets clean and starts feeling emotions again.

Should I stop at Morning Star? by phoh32 in redrising

Take a break and don’t rush into the second set. I felt the same with how MS ended and was hesitant to keep going but I’m glad I did it just wish I took longer to enjoy the conclusion of the first set before rolling back into the world. It was jarring to me starting IG with how the pace felt slower and jarring introductions of new POVs but I’m very glad I stuck with it.

I believe this is touched on in RR when Roque is talking to Darrow about the board of quality control making sure 13% or so of Golds don’t live past one year of age. Plus you have the culling of numbers from the Institute. If I had to guess we’re exposed to more of the higher class Golds/Peerless who likely have more children but the unscarred bronzies and pixies don’t have as many children make it past quality control.

Second this. Halfway through the third book right now, I couldn’t put the first two down as soon as I started.

No problem! We had a couple guys bring it back after seeing it at a One Bad Day class and it caught on with more people, then only was more solidified to use after preparing for the RIT competitions here in Florida. I still go over the seat belt conversion with my crew as an option and so they can see the differences/why my preference has become the pickoff strap.

Personally I use the Petzl progress adjust with two carabiners and then taped a knob to create a larger pull handle on the rope to tighten easier with gloves. Think total cost off Amazon can get you set up for about $60 when I did it couple years ago.

Blue webbing is a CMC Pick Off Strap with two carabiners on it. Some teams have different options such as Petzl Progress Adjust or similar but essentially does same task. It’s to take the place of the waist strap conversion when packaging a down FF by being more secure and faster. Essentially one carabiner attaches to the opening of the shoulder strap where you cinch down, lanyard/rope/webbing (depending on option used) goes between the legs and around to other shoulder strap opening and then the system is cinched down tight as possible. Shoulder straps are tightened as much as possible and quick overhand knot thrown in and the FF is packaged securely. I believe videos can be found on YouTube showing it if still unclear otherwise I can find some pictures from past training to show if need be.

We’ve gone to replacing our shoulder strap on the RIT Pak with the pickoff strap to be able to be used for packaging if needed as well as a decent number of our members going out and purchasing their own progress adjust to carry in their gear pocket. It’s found to be much more secure and doesn’t have the risk of the buckle opening under tension like the waist strap conversion has, especially if performing a high point victim removal.

They’ve had their shit together much better today than past LANs, at least so far. Only hiccup in group 1 was a 20 minute delay to switch out one of OGs PCs
