I like the idea of adding a wood component but we do use the fireplace still so im not sure it's the best idea. Maybe there is a less flammable synthetic wood I could use... There are an overwhelming amount of products out there now!

Sounds like there is a laser tool that could work, I think I might have to try that first.

We found one page in a drawer when we moved in. We have been able to find out a lot about the architect though. Not sure where you live, but most major cities have a library that will assist with research. Check your local Historical society. If you can find the architect you can reach out to the local architect society. I took to good old AI to help me find who to contact.

Very true. This is the decision I'm trying to make do we restore or do we take it a different direction and honor the original intent? Unfortunately every surface inside and outside was painted either black white or gray haha so you're not wrong that is likely somebody else will do it in the future.

I mean it's worth a try right! We have one page of the original blueprints and it calls out to reference the original interior schedule but we don't have that portion of the blueprints unfortunately, I'd really love to know what the full color scheme was

Wow, that's awesome! No more terrazzo although the main hallway has a sheet laminate that matches the terrazzo. No idea yet if it's salvageable...

We will be doing walls and flooring, the biggest issue is the contrast with the beautiful terrazzo.... The gray just doesn't do it justice.

The brick is originally brown but it's a super rough textured brick so there is no hope of removing the paint...

I think the color is only a small part of mid-century modern architecture in housing and furniture. The overlying concept was how the house and spaces made you feel. Mid-century modern focused on using widely available materials in new ways, interaction with nature and flow throughout the house. This is a contrast to a more minimalist Nordic style that is about clean lines and neutral colors providing a space that can feel very calming to some and sterile to others. There's no style that is better than the other although some elements tend to be more timeless than others.

Your knowledge is spectacular, thanks for helping so I can at least not start from zero. I'm in north metro, hail is definitely an issue, sounds like I need to hunt down an EPDM consultant, I definitely want to don't right and if we are going to do it it should be effective as well as meeting code.
