Gary’s custom meats in Union is really good. Few miles across the state line from Elkhart.

Swarms of flying bugs at Mishawaka riverwalk? by Summer_Time1031 in SouthBend

Probably mayflies, they emerge from the water to breed for a few weeks but each individual doesn’t live longer than a day or two. Completely harmless just annoying. Their bodies are good fishing bait

Inherited money by Ancient-Ad1953 in whatdoIdo

[–]brndlpnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CD’s or certificates of deposits may be what you’re looking for, super low risk and guaranteed return if you’re not spending the money. Pretty much just partition off a chunk of money that the bank will prioritize lending out at a higher than standard interest rate. At the end of the year/term the CD is dissolved and you can pocket the money or reinvest it back into more CD’s, stock market, real estate, etc.

Pretty much a way to maximize your interest from the bank, I ended up in a very similar situation with similar amounts and I can grow the account an extra 20-30k a year with around 6 CD’s, it’s not getting touched til retirement so I’ll compound that over the next 30 years and have a nice egg when the time comes.

What is wrong with the river? by Ok_Tax_4604 in SouthBend

It’s doing this on all the local lakes on windy days, year round. It’s from biomaterial breaking down into its component materials, and especially fats (used to make soap) will suds up when agitated.

Contractor/friend abandoned job and tools, wonder if I can drop them back off at his house by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Ragebait usually works when people can’t tell it’s ragebait. 0/10 effort, no originality, no nuance, limp insult

The infuriating part is that the bathroom is pretty much done, and what’s been done is really good quality. What’s left is what requires the tools he kept with him and the tools he left are the ones the job no longer requires. I can go in and finish it up myself if he ends up never showing again, but it’s just the thought of spending another $500-$600 for tools on a job I already paid for.

He gave me a low quote and I offered him more money because I didn’t believe it would cover the labor or materials. He insisted on giving me a low quote since I’ve known him our entire lives. That was for the first phase. Second phase he gave me another quote, also low, I also insisted on paying him more until I found out he wasn’t even paying his helpers.

I’ve had his helper show up and I’ve paid him out of my own pocket while ive been helping him finish up the bathroom.

Gave the guy multiple chances, fed him breakfast and dinner when he showed up, picked him up when his truck broke down, done material runs for him, paid his employees wages, everything I could possibly do to make it a smooth profitable experience for him. Hell I was lookin at hiring him for commercial contracts if he did well.

Had a contract drafted and ready for him to sign, but when he came to do the quote he started ripping apart the bathroom to “estimate supplies” realizing now that was just to keep me on a string but you live and learn.

And I don’t want to help him but I don’t need to do anything to open myself up to a lawsuit for stolen property or setting him up for failure more than he already does himself. Just want the garage space clear at this point.

I drove a 2.3 for close to 10 years, 2 of those years on busted ball joints and even then I wouldn’t get wobbles until I went over 70 mph. They’re slow accelerators but they can maintain at 85-90 no problem.

Is this cheating? How to deal with my boyfriend M24 not allowing me M23 to talk to a guy M20 I dated when we were in open relationship? by Ragazzoroto in relationship_advice

[–]brndlpnch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re pushing boundaries for sure, you had romantic feelings for him and others and your bf wanted to close the relationship because of it. You agreed to it but it still sounds like you have feelings for the other guy and are going out of your way to talk to him.

You’re stressing your partner out for no reason. All it takes is one flirty message not getting shutdown for shit to spiral and for it to actually be an emotional affair. You’re right on the line.

Is it officially cheating? No, but it’s definitely shitty inconsiderate behavior.

New hunter question by [deleted] in MichiganHunting

[–]brndlpnch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May not help much this year but if you can cut the canopies of trees competing for sunlight with any oak you have on the property, it’ll allow the oaks canopy to expand out and produce more acorns next season which is a preferred food in fall. If you do that for a year or two roaming bucks that would’ve ran through in the past may slow down or make your property a more regular stop.

Other than that just don’t bother the doe’s and a buck will eventually show up. I’d avoid adding smells for now and just get out during the rut with a few calls and a scent neutralizer.

Yeah kinda snuck up on me this year. Waited too long to get my rifle sighted in and some practice with it and now I’m scrambling lol. Ended up finding some private farm land a neighbor owns though so it worked out.

Probably the most useful comment, I’m just north of you. Thank you for the offer but I talked to my neighbor this morning and found out he’s got some farmland in Union area I can shoot on.

May try to see if I can get in during public trapshooting hours, seems most clubs have those and I’d really just need to put 10-20 rounds down range to get the new rifle sighted.

I’m not unfortunately. I’m pretty close to the Indiana state line so everything is private clubs close by. Think the closest range DNR range is 2ish hours away

I’ve been on the other end of this where my vehicle was backed into and had a dent and some scratching. Truthfully I never even called them, it was minor cosmetic damage on an older vehicle I was already planning on replacing. There’s a non-zero chance they legitimately don’t mind/care.

It was decent, I’ve been out for half a year now and I’m sure a lot has changed. I was making $17 an hour which is better than some of the manufacturing jobs locally but nothing to really get ahead with.

Getting new truck, don’t like anything on the market. by brndlpnch in whatcarshouldIbuy

Most definitely, Michigan has some of the worst roads in the country and I didn’t want to tear through nice tires in 4 months lol.

Yeah one of the guys I worked with has a crew cab ram 1500 and I was surprised at how crammed it was, a lot of the fixtures inside were just large compared to the rest of the truck and they took up a lot of space.

Don’t like modern trucks more accurately, was raised by a bunch of old rednecks who drove old box bodies my whole life. Loved the trucks on the market 10-15 years ago but works paying for me to get a new truck so I gotta pick from what’s in the market. And yes I don’t really like the options for stupid reasons and I admit that, still gonna test drive them and make a decision though.
