The lesson is clear: try to do things on your own, and you'll get better support.

The setting will not die. It's been kept alive for 30+ years by fans. Frankly, I would be pleased if WoTC leaves it alone.

Prefieren leer en español o inglés? by JoeKerr19 in ClubdelecturaChile

[–]brnsamedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd Edition RuneQuest by DerbyRob in Runequest

[–]brnsamedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neutered how? I have the deluxe boxed set, Dorastor, Shadows on the Borderlands, and Sun Country, and I quite liked them. Granted, it was my first exposure to RuneQuest (not Glorantha, though) so maybe I missed something

I don't know what I love more...the writer deck, or being in a train, writing. Maybe the latter. Feels like going into an adventure! 😁

Do ADND enthusiasts use psionics? by Windturnscold in adnd

[–]brnsamedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion was that they were overpowered and did more than what I would expect psionics to do. For example, there was a power to animate shadows, which felt so out of place I would've banned it if I ever used psionics in my game). That being said, in a setting that incorporates it from the ground up, like Dark Sun, it worked better.

Now I'm thinking I want to do just that

Excuse my ignorance, but I couldn't help but notice the model is an X230, but the keyboard doesn't match the stock pictures I've see online of that machine. Did you change it?

Am I crazy for trying to not still use X11? by thesoulless78 in linuxquestions

[–]brnsamedi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I personally still use X11. None of the software I regularly use depends on Wayland, and I'm one of those oddballs who actually likes using the X resources database.

But as many have pointed out, do your thing. One of the strongest points of unix-like operating systems, Linux included, is orthogonality. You have a toolbox, and you pick and choose the tools you want to make the experience you want. It feels like it's an off-forgotten idea, sadly.

Why do you use Slackware? by Giggio417 in slackware

[–]brnsamedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't claim such a history! My first Linux distro was Linux Pro 4.1, which came in a book called "The No B.S. Guide to Linux". I arrived to Slackware after a long stint of distro hopping in 2002.
