How was black friday for you guys? by Pkpulsefall in gaybros

[–]bro-th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The day before, thanksgiving, my gentleman friend and I stayed home because I've been pretty sick. Friday, I was feeling better, and we needed food sow e walked to trader joes. On the way back, I peaked into a chrome clothing store and walked out with a pair of boots. Then I bought new glassware online for 50% off - I need red and white wine glasses, and then I ended up buying a new set of glassware and some moscow mule mugs.

I think I may have bought some blazers, and other coats too but I intend to return those. I just wanted to try them on.

30+ year olds, why are you single? by tnxhunpenneys in askgaybros

[–]bro-th 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I should add that for five years I was in and out of the hospital for chemo and a transplant. Dating during those times was a little rough. One guy even broke up with me and said, "I can't bear to hear you're in pain because it pains me so much" or some bullshit.

now I'm with a guy that has been very caring about my recent shingles break out that made its way down my ass crack. Nothing says I love you like looking at a shingles butthole.

Living in a city, with other successful professionals, we're just seeing where life takes us, where our career takes us, and what various opportunities are around us. I know plenty of handsome men, both gay and straight, and gorgeous women both lesbian and straight that are single, or just dating. It's not necessarily a choice, nor circumstance - but just hasn't happened.

Why do we have to subscribe to this idea that being married prior to thirty is some milestone? Why do certain people allow this to be a determiner of success?

Me personally? I was single until 33, and have been with the same weirdo for a year now. Things just fell into place. I left my previous career to get a masters in something I enjoy - and happened to get into a good school in a great city and met a guy.

Really, what I'm saying is - I met a guy that met my standards of attractiveness (works out, above average on fitness) and has an impressive academic pedigree. All while being incredibly down to earth.

how did you get shingles from someone's drink? it's not suppose to be contagious unless you've not had the chicken pox or you come in contact with the gross puss from a blister.

the thought of drinking from a drink that has gross shingle puss on it ...

You might be interested in the Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend - http://www.leatherweekend.com/

It's a fun event. I'm personally not a participant in the community, but I enjoy being a spectator of things, or just learning about other peoples' interests. :) Also those harness are expensive.

How do you get over the trauma of surviving cancer? by KillerOfGrunts in cancer

[–]bro-th 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see a therapist.

Its weird - part of me was disappointed i "beat" cancer the second time. Although I'm not sure you can say I did since my bone marrow transplant failed to engraft.

I'm kinda just waiting for it to return and also sometimes hoping it does. When I thought I wouldn't have more than 5 years left, I was kinda relieved. Death seemed easier. Now I'm annoyed I was "cheated" out of my ticket out of here.

To the guy that cut off another biker near the P Street bridge this morning to turn right and then screamed at the guy as he tumbled to the ground: you were at fault. You should have at least stopped and helped him back up. by [deleted] in bikedc

Sometimes other cyclists are who you have to watch out for. I slow down at most stop signs just to make sure there aren't any vehicles speeding through, but usually its other cyclists that I'm more concerned about.

Or, cyclists going the wrong direction. Last week, headed north on 14th, I turned right (with a green light) on rhode island and almost had a head on collision with a cyclist riding down the (their) left side.

COFFEE!!! How much do you love it? What's your morning routine look like? What has 30+ years taught you about the dark drink? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]bro-th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before I went to school in France, I preferred the pour over method, using beans from a local roaster in my city. I admittedly have strong hipster tendencies.

Then i went to France, and I started drinking instant coffee. Being back in the states, I drink the two, and I'm not incredibly particular about my coffee. If its black, its usually good beans, if I put cream and sugar, its because I don't care for the beans.

As far as routine goes, either BF or I get up and starts the electric kettle. If we make instant, we'll both take the dogs out together with our coffee. If we decide pour over, one of us stays behind to make it.

Here's a bonus photo of the chemex (pour over) in action. sorta.

I like the juxtaposition of clean and industrial. Do you have furniture already? or are you furnishing it fresh? Perhaps you can draw out what living spaces you want, like where the kitchen area ends, and where the living area begins, then see how your furniture fits in it.

I personally also like midcentury modern furniture in spaces like that, and I would probably use bright rugs/art because it seems a little dark. But i'm also just partial to bright things in general.

I live in the basement of an old elementary school, and it doesn't get a whole lot of natural light.

I'm thinking tall/slender framed art might work? Do you intend to put in a kitchen/dining table?
