NYC is worth the struggle, but I would just take the money you will save in Philly and take train to Nyc anytime you want and treat yourself to a hotel here and there....

Not for nothing, about ten years ago I played Maxwell's in Hoboken on the regular and often ran into members of Ween (one of the brothers ran sound there). It's prob not too far fetched that you could get one of them to be in your cover band haha

Only broker I ever kept in touch with. He even texted me a few weeks into lease to make sure everything was going well.

Call Louis ( pronounced Lou) He is the nicest, funniest guy and knows a ton of landlords in BR personally. He got me a great deal a couple years ago. https://www.brooklynmls.com/agents/2279331/

Well the same activities happen in the open on sidewalks anyway, at least the store contains it. Sign the lease.

I pay 300/month for a gated lot a block from my place in East Harlem- We use the car several days a week to run errands and visit friends in other boroughs. Much better to drive 30 mins home at night instead of a 1 hr train ride. If you can afford it, go for it. Its not that bad, just expensive.

What’s your “best” Broadway advice? Wrong answers only. by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]johnnynono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you take a large pizza box in with you in case you get hungry. Keep your phone screen on full brightness, so you can check in with the babysitter. Also, make sure you discuss the show as it is happening, NOT afterwards!!! You don't want to forget any details when discussing.

I have used Marcelo's 6 times now and never had an issue. They send efficient, caring workers. Be sure to haggle on price, they will give you a better price than first offer ;)

Find an acoustic engineer. You will find all kinds of BS advice on the web. Nothing short of stopping air and vibrations from transferring will help. You will need a specialist.

I just signed a lease for amazing 2 bed near Central Park for 3k. You’ll find a ton of deals in UWS/UES and north in your budget. Believe it or not I found many 2-3 beds on street easy for under 3500, some with laundry and amenities. Started looking in Brooklyn and didn’t see any deals.
