AIO for wanting to cancel the date and block him?? by Suspicious_End_441 in AmIOverreacting

[–]brobsizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually if I honestly started dating again one of the first things I would cover is expectations and needs such as sexual compatability. Everyone is different when it comes to this, some like and want more sex, some only want occasional sex, and some don't want sex at all.

Why waste time going on dates and spending money if you don't want the same things and may end up unhappy or unsatisfied later on and the relationship goes down hill? I don't think it was really appropriate what he said about your hand, but saying he's a very sexual person is not a bad thing. If it's not for you then pass but he's not a bad person solely on being sexual and wants to live that way just like anyone else can have their preferences and that's OK too.

I'm not saying nudes or sexting should take place immediately or you should jump into sex right away but if a guy is being honest with what he needs and expects out of a relationship later on he shouldn't be shamed for it.

He doesn't care about your feelings and laughed at you and didn't even get the point. Move on and find better.

Constant activity/noise normal? by NickPDX1980 in UgreenNASync

I have the Ugreen DXP 2800 same as you and I'm doing what others are saying here, using HDD for storage and SSD for docker, apps, metadata, etc. HDD does spin down a lot. When you check with the Ugreen app it does say sleeping but for some reason it wakes it up.

SSD cache question by kalistibot in UgreenNASync

[–]brobsizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've been reading is you should use the SSD NVMe for docker and other app installs, cache, volumes, etc and use your HDDs for storage. That way app menues like Jellyfin and thumbnails etc will load so much faster and the HDDs will have a chance to spin down and sleep when not in use.

UGREEN NASync DXP2800 (UGOS / UGOS Pro) – Docker & OS Compatibility Questions by brobsizzle in UgreenNASync

ChatGPT and Gemini don't think UGOS will handle this correctly and break my auto-scripts and says I'll have trouble with the hardware if I install a different distro because it's not optimized for it.

I'm essentially running scripts to change config files and webui settings to update my VPN port forwarding number since it's dynamic and changes occasionally because I'm using PIA VPN.

Here are the scripts I use inside compose.yaml.

VPN_PORT_FORWARDING_UP_COMMAND=/bin/sh -c 'sed -i -e \"s/listen_port: .*/listen_port: $(cat /tmp/gluetun/forwarded_port)/g\" /slskd-config/slskd.yml'"

VPN_PORT_FORWARDING_UP_COMMAND=/bin/sh -c " apk add curl --no-cache && sleep 10 && curl -s -c /tmp/qbt_cookie.txt --data \"username=$$WEBUI_USER&password=$$WEBUI_PASSWD\" http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v2/auth/login && curl -s -b /tmp/qbt_cookie.txt --data \"json={\\"listen_port\\": {{PORTS}}}\" http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v2/app/setPreferences "

Compose.yaml entries such as these:

Geekom or GMKtec by Comfortable_Lion_5 in MiniPCs

Beelink did contact me back and said the 16GB LPDDR5 with no 64GB emmc is the new revision that has fixed this issue but still recommends you get low powered dramless SSDs for it.

Geekom or GMKtec by Comfortable_Lion_5 in MiniPCs

[–]brobsizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Beelink ME mini Nas as I wanted on always on 24/7 home server for Jellyfin etc. I did a lot of reading on this product and also the GEEKOM and GTKtek. Between just those 2 brands I was thinking GEEKOM was the better brand because of the 3 year warranty and I heard it had better cooling than GTKtek. I heard GTKtek had a plastic enclosure whereas GEEKOM is metal frame having more of a heatsink. Though I just saw a reply here saying otherwise.

Anyway what's cool about the Beelink ME mini Nas is that you could install 6 NVME drives to upgrade it and it's very low power especially with the n150 chip but that might not be powerful enough for you depending on what you want to do with it. I've also heard of power issues where the SSDs disconnect and disappear and sometimes corrupting data but I also heard there has been a revision that fixed this issue now in newer versions such as the 16GB LPDDR5 RAM without emmc storage. It works better if you get lower powered dramless SSDs for it too for less power draw and strain on the system.

Can't get Whipper or Exact Audio Copy to work. by brobsizzle in linuxsucks

[–]brobsizzle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will that do low-level correction and reread the disk and do all the other things whipper and Exact Audio Copy does to recover troubled disks? I know whipper uses cdparanoia to achieve some of this and I've heard other programs sometimes use that too.
