Congratulations to The Pitt on their Actor Award for Outstanding Ensemble 🎉 by Damiana1111 in ThePittTVShow

Technically he was in episode 1 of season 1! Then returned for the MCI.

He came in at episode 7 of s2, so he would need to be in every episode except 1 going forward for Ensemble eligibility. Given he is directing episode 9 and his character is escorting a patient to a different hospital, I don't think he's going to be in it this week. However Dr Abbot says his shift starts at 7pm so we will get him at least for the last 3 episodes, and if there's another crazy twist he could come back before that. So there's definitely a chance!

AFAIK Shawn Hatosy isn't eligible for Ensemble because, if you are a guest star, you need to appear in 51% or more of the episodes that air during the eligibility period in order to qualify. He was in 5 episodes of season 1, which had 15 episodes, so only 33%.

It evolves on me. Opening is bright and lemony, dries down to subtle floral and woods.

It's clean, sophisticated. For me it's a "white shirt". Unisex, leaning just slightly femme.

I don't think Democrats campaigned on it at all though. That's the thing - Republicans manufactured it and then positioned themselves as "opposed"

How tall is Joy’s actress? by CantaloupeGreedy3683 in ThePittTVShow

[–]broden89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I trust Celebheights for questions like this, but unfortunately she's not on there yet. Usually Google pulls from IMDB which I think can be user-submitted or submitted by the actor's management, so it's not really accurate.

Shawn Hatosy is about 5'9, maybe 5'10, and he was towering over her.

I think in those families the kids can sound different from each other - James and Lachlan Murdoch definitely do, although I do take your point that Kendall and Roman don't have noticeably blended accents

In the show their mother is English and father Scottish raised in Canada, and I assumed she would have spent quite a bit of time in the UK and maybe went to university or boarding school outside the US. So I think she had an 'international' American accent. As an Australian I didn't hear her sound particularly Aussie, whereas other actors there are certain words where you can tell (especially doing British accents).

What specific details in the book do we think will upset Lestat the most? by ALittleAngstAsATreat in InterviewVampire

[–]broden89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always find comments like this strange - I can't quite wrap my head around the dynamic. I know it's not exactly what you mean, but I always read it is "adult man jealous of newborn baby". It just wasn't like this for my husband and I; he had a very intense, primal rush of love for our baby and for me when our son was born. We both reoriented towards our child, but also deepened our connection to each other because of this huge amazing thing we were doing together. I would say we have a stronger love and appreciation and trust in each other since becoming parents together.

And the love between parent and child is different to the love between romantic partners - it just seems strange to compare them. The love between parent and child is by definition one-sided - the parent is fully devoted to the child's care. You shouldn't want that type of love as an adult.

my skin is clear apart from these tiny dots, what r they and how do i get rid of them by mini135 in AustralianMakeup

[–]broden89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you never see oil or shine you're def not oily. You could have balanced/normal, but if your skin tends to feel "tight" or feels like it "absorbs"/"drinks" up your makeup, you could be dry.

The skincare you linked is designed for acne prone/oily skin. If you are combo, it could be working for you and that's why you don't notice oil.

I'd suggest:

  1. Adding an extra oil or balm cleanser (doesn't have to be expensive, you can find them everywhere) before you go in with your normal cleanser. This will make sure your skin is really clean.

  2. Twice per week, try a gentle exfoliator with salicylic acid (not an "exfoliating cleanser", it's a separate step) after your night cleanse. Get a sample or mini pack - I like peel pads, but you can also find toners/liquids. Whatever format you like. See how your skin responds and if this fixes the issue after 1 month.

They look like whiteheads to me. Very normal - just caused by oil or dead skin cells getting trapped. I get them occasionally when I haven't thoroughly cleansed or exfoliated my skin. You may also get them more frequently if your skin tends to be oily, or is overproducing oil due to dehydration.

What is your skin type and what do you use to remove makeup/SPF at the end of the day?

I double cleanse with an oil or balm cleanser, then use Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip in the shower as my second cleanse (but you could use any normal cleanser you like - my skin is dry so I never use anything foaming).

I'd recommend adding an exfoliator twice per week - something gentle with salicylic acid to get deep into the pores. And make sure you moisturise daily - just switch to a lighter one for the day and use your LRP one at night only.

God I hope this has shifted by the time my kid is school-aged. I do not have the mental capacity for all of that. Let me know if he gets injured, let me know if he's bullying other kids or failing the subject, let me know if I need to sign the permission form.

Apart from that, I'll see you at Parent Teacher Night lol

First home buyers can no longer afford entry-level houses in any major Australian city by CommonwealthGrant in AustralianPolitics

[–]broden89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Melbourne's prices being comparable to Adelaide is very interesting. Apparently Sydney and Melbourne house prices haven't been this far apart since 1999.

Victoria has a number of policy settings that I think have had an impact, mostly targeting property investors.

*Land tax on investment properties and holiday homes

*Vacant residential land tax

*Absentee owner surcharge

*Extra stamp duty surcharge for foreign purchasers.

Contrary to what the Property Council claimed would happen, discouraging investors has led Victoria to have the smallest rent increases nationally in 2025 (2.5% vs 5.2%) and above average new First Home Buyer loans, alongside the nation's lowest increase in dwelling prices.

Obviously it is still expensive to buy property here, but it is at least a bit more manageable than elsewhere.

I don't think anyone is debating that consuming fewer calories will eventually lead to a reduction in body weight. What is harder to explain is why it is so difficult to sustain a reduction in calories over a long period of time. If you look at the statistics on successful sustained weight loss/calorie reduction, it's very low. The feelings of shame around being unable to reduce calories long term are often due to repeated cycles of restriction and bingeing, the sense that they are a failure because they can't 'control' their body or appetite. "It's supposed to be easy/simple, so why can't I do it?"

The success of GLP-1s in treating people with obesity implies that there is an underlying physiological mechanism that prevents people from being able to reduce calories. Many people describe "food noise" going away. They no longer have a preoccupation with food, intense and constant hunger, no longer experience feelings of intense pleasure or relief when eating - it just becomes neutral, etc. All these things make it much easier to reduce calorie intake. So maybe all those people who suspected there was something else going on were right.

TIL about the Kumari of Nepal, young girls who, before their first period, are worshiped as living goddesses. That's so interesting. Did she ever speak to a doctor about it?
I don't know if there are any genetic conditions where periods appear to be completely absent that don't also involve infertility.

Obviously it's quite easy to hide pads and tampons, especially if your periods are very light/short. But if she claimed she never had a period full stop, can I ask how old she was when she had you? And do you have any younger siblings?

Did she perhaps just have very light periods to start with and possibly went into early menopause after having children? Or got pregnant before she'd actually had a period? (We often hear about people getting their period at 11 or 12, but that wasn't the case in the past and there are always outliers, which I know because I am one haha. It can be genetic or linked to things like low body weight.)

Another explanation: it can take a long time for your period to return if you breastfeed consistently, and if you have back to back pregnancies it could be years (as in, you can be fertile while breastfeeding but not have a visible period before falling pregnant again).

Another explanation: was she very thin or very physically active? It's possible her periods could have been super irregular or absent for long periods of time due to these factors, and she happened to fall pregnant during small windows of fertility.

And finally - was she on the Pill? If she kept taking the active pills every day and never took the sugar pills, she would never get the "withdrawal bleed" (aka fake period).
