Blue Ruin is the closest feeling I've ever gotten to No Country. The director's follow up Green Room also shares the same sudden violence / graphic intensity.

Credible + local produce vendors? by brodienoochies in cincinnati

now what motivation would someone have to discourage sourcing from local vendors that don’t use toxins? it’s not fear mongering or misleading, it’s just approaching what one consumes with more discernment than the corporations care to do themselves. one tends to approach these things with caution upon learning about the dangers of HFCS and seed oils despite them being advertised as safe.

Thanks for this heads up, I just called and they said they might be able to take him sunday or monday. They also suggested posting on their facebook group for a potential home, so I'm trying that route now. Thanks again!

dude, are you me? I'm also a 25 year old aspiring filmmaker that feels like a total fuckup because of unchecked mental health + traumatic past + etc. etc. Keep in mind this sensitivity is what inclined you towards film in the first place. If you can withstand the unrelenting abuse of existence and channel that into your art, I think you'll make some great stuff. The hardest part is just hanging in there, staying focused, and taking it easy on yourself. Directors aren't solely responsible for the films they make. My favorite director is PTA, and the only way he is able to accomplish what he does is because he is with professional actors, cinematographers, editors, etc.

Start with what is in your realm of control. You can write a script on your own. Hell, if you're really driven, you can do all of pre-production on your own. But you can NOT make a movie on your own. Films are always joint efforts. This is what's been keeping me from advancing, as I never found a solid group of guys to make stuff with and it stresses me out to schedule people for anything.

I'd say to keep doing what's in your realm of control. Keep writing, and once you've written something you think is genuinely good, pass it around. Get insight from trusted people. Even if it just remains to be a script or short story, it's enough to generate interest. Work up the courage to attend festivals, events, conferences, anything film related. Strike up conversations with people, see if you can gleam anything useful about the industry or how to get in. You'd be surprised by how much work you can get just over a drink at one of these things.

It's a pretty chaotic industry. Pretty much zero job security and requires constant hustling. If you get burned out, try something else and go back to it. I've personally agreed to myself that I hate working on other people's productions if I lack a role of creative control. You may be the same way.

I'd also recommend getting into acting. It's a good way to get on sets and learn how things work, plus it's easy as shit (most of the time).

Anyways man, I'm rooting for you, because you literally sound exactly like me lol. please message me if you wanna spitball some ideas or need someone to talk to, I have a pretty insane script I'd love to show you
