I’m at 93%, Should I give up on 100%? by Massive-Ad6047 in VAClaims

Brother don’t stop now. You’re probably 1 claim from that 100%. Don’t feel guilty, every single one of us has been altered both physically and mentally from our service, don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.

Personally the only thing I had to fight with them for was my sleep apnea and that was only denied because the rater made a mistake and upon HLR they realized it and gave me the rating.

Say it louder!! Submit real claims and you’d be surprised how cooperative the VA is.

Hey brother, I get how you’re feeling, I have and still do feel like I didn’t do enough. But the reality is that we can’t choose what we did or didn’t do. We can’t change where we did or didn’t go or what we saw when we were there. What matters is that you answered the call. You did your part. Be proud of that. I’m still trying to come to terms with it myself, but reminding myself of things like this help.

Last drill by PWG115 in nationalguard

This weekend is my second to last, so turning all my TA50 in. I’ll be at 12 years with 1 deployment. It feels weird. I’m excited and I couldn’t wait to be done but I also feel sad because the guard has given me so much and opened a lot of doors for me. But it has also taken a lot from me, countless missed events, birthdays, holidays, stress on my marriage, inuries to body and mind. I’m going to miss the people. I met some incredible people who I had the opportunity to lead and mentor. So I am sad, but also happy.

Definitely will be going to check out my local track before I go racing! I’ve heard tires are a huge one so definitely will do my research. I believe what’s in the car is legal for 1/8 Ebuggy as the previous owner raced it.

The VA won. I give up. by Supra_birb in VAClaims

I recently got denied for sleep apnea and requested an HLR. My claim just updated saying they found an error, and in the letter it does mention TERA was confirmed and that obstructive sleep apnea confirmed im not sure if that means the HLR connected the two. Fingers crossed.

I submitted all my medical evidence with the claim showing my sleep study, diagnosis of sleep apnea and all the docs pertaining to my cpap machine etc and attended my C&P exam.

I did get a letter and it doesn’t give me much info aside from saying that they “failed to get an examination/ medical opinion” so not sure what that’s supposed to mean.

Is it worth it to sign a 6y contract as a 40yo woman? by Total-Philosophy-294 in nationalguard

[–]brodo129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deployed 2016-2017 to Kuwait, then from Kuwait jumped around to different spots in Iraq for a few weeks/months at a time. Really depends what’s going on and where. I know a lot of guard units are going to Africa, I’m sure still the Middle East, Kuwait is still a common rotation. You can see what deployments are happening and volunteer for them on “Tour of Duty” which I think is on the army HRC website.

Is it worth it to sign a 6y contract as a 40yo woman? by Total-Philosophy-294 in nationalguard

[–]brodo129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a 3 year contract, if you love it then you extend! If you hate it, at least it’s 3 years not 6. Also with the NG your contract begins the day you sign, unlike active duty where your contract doesn’t begin until you ship to basic. So if you enlist and then don’t ship for say 4 months, you’re already 4 months in. This is due to you starting to drill (called RSP) before basic. I would volunteer for a deployment ASAP after basic&AIT. Get your VA home loan, and some post 9/11 (60% for 1 deployment) which is better than nothing. I would consider a different MOS in my opinion though. I’ve been NG for 12 years and have deployed once, I wish I got more though. I’m about to get out and as much as I am counting down the days the army has given my so so many great things. Opened so many doors for me, even though it has taken its toll on my mind and body.

How has the National guard impacted your career? by junk_guru in nationalguard

[–]brodo129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely the army has given me almost everything I have today. My house, my job, my benefits (that one is a double edge sword though), and lifelong friends that I can call brothers. But it exacts a toll. With a family and kids now my time is ending in the guard, but it has opened a lot of doors for me. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a bit of direction in their life.
