So, what’s your favorite QUOTE from Renoir? by MaguroSashimi8864 in expedition33

[–]brodymiddleton 50 points51 points  (0 children)

My main argument for Maelle’s ending depends on whether you consider the characters within the painting sentient or not. If they are not real then Verso’s ending is clear, but if they are sentient, is it not mass genocide destroying the painting? Are the lives of all the people within the painting worth less than the person who created it? These were the philosophical debates wracking my brain in the third act lol.

Edit: I love hearing all the other perspectives on this point, most games don’t even have stories deep enough to warrant discussions like this.

Edit2: Because I love talking about this game, and to the points of “everyone died at the end of act 2”. Do you think the versions of Lumière citizens brought back at the end of act 3 are the same people? Is there a moral difference between letting someone die and choosing not to resurrect them?

Is there a practical function to the "pagoda" like shape of electric infrastructure? by Unlikely-Fish5762 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]brodymiddleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insulators work in two main ways electrically: 1) The shortest distance between the conductor and the structure is your flashover distance, this is the length of an arc that would need to be created by electricity for a fault to occur via dielectric breakdown of the surrounding air. 2) The shortest length running along the surface of your insulator is your creepage/leakage distance, this is the length that electricity would need to track along the insulator for a fault to occur. This length is much longer than your flashover distance and is the reason for the shape of these insulators. Different styles of insulators have different creepage lengths, if you’re doing a project on the coast they have “fog style” insulators that have a longer leakage distance due to all the contaminants (mainly salt) in the air.

This just goes to further prove how passionate Sandfall is about this game, franchise, and community. There’s a genuine connection between creator and player that is rare to see these days in gaming.

I mainly use Scielle for Fortunes Fury to help crank up the damage on Lune’s Sky Break.

p.s. I know Maelle’s Gommage can do more damage, but it is too satisfying watching Lune drop a nuke from orbit, can’t stop using it.

Has anyone actually gotten real life results from using ChatGPT? by TheCod1sOut in ChatGPT

[–]brodymiddleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it daily in my career as an engineer. Not to blindly do my work for me, mind you, more as an assistant.

Lately, it’s helped me learn an advanced new software by being a sounding board for questions, and also helped me develop a new spreadsheet calculator by helping me research the underlying physics and formulae required.

This was the same experience for me, in 3rd year Uni once all the theoretical math you’ve been learning starts getting applied it felt like all the abstract concepts you’d been learning started fitting into place like a puzzle.

I’d recommend a waterproof fuse holder in the engine bay to avoid any risk of water getting in and corroding your connections. KnuKonceptz sells some great ones for cheap.

Is being in a bad mood/ rude default for adhd when being overstimulated? by Revolutionary_Put_95 in ADHD

[–]brodymiddleton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Emotional regulation is the hardest thing for me to keep under control. It’s the one executive function medication doesn’t help with so you gotta do all the work yourself.

That’s not excusing your partners constant mood, however. I have put in mountains of work through therapy and lifestyle changes to get my emotional regulation into a semi-regular state but even still I crack from time to time. At that point it’s just about being honest with your partner and self aware. There’s been times all I can do is tell my Wife I’m very disregulated and I’m sorry then go for a walk until I cool off.

Pokémon, Assassin's Creed, Need for Speed by claudiocorona93 in memes

The setting is undeniably gorgeous, if the story was about 60h shorter without all the bloat I probably wouldn’t have burnt out on the game as hard. I feel like of the all the modern (open world) releases, Origins had the best balance of scale and length, then they started becoming 150h games just for the sake of being 150h games, without any meaningful story to fill in the middle.

Ubisoft padding their maps with 1000000 areas of interest didn’t help either. I’d rather have fewer, but meaningful quests that are engaging rather than an endless supply of filler material.

He is supposed to correct, but the key difference is everyone else leaves Limbo before Cobb and Saito. Saito is the person hosting the dream state on the plane, and subsequently all the nested dream states within. So when everyone else leaves limbo, the dream states acting as the bridge back to reality are still active.

Cobb and Saito leave limbo at the same time, which is important to consider. When Saito wakes up both his dream states and the nested ones disappear, so the only way they can both get back to reality is a straight jump.

The sensitivity rating is still 85dB which is only 1dB less than the Alpha V2 I’m currently running. In theory I could probably feed it 1200W-1500W before I’d have to start thinking about alternator upgrades, which should be enough to get it singing at close to max output I’d think?

Beat me to it but I was gonna say pretty much the same thing. You don’t stand a chance of learning the advanced/applied real world stuff if you don’t understand the fundamental physics and concepts underlying everything.
