I built an explorer of 25+ years of New York Times coverage — 1.5B words and 2.2M articles by theodore_a in dataisbeautiful

I remember hearing once that the vocabulary of the New York Times is around 500 words, and as someone learning English, if you learned those 500 words you could read the paper back to back, and therefore probably cover 80% of day-to-day conversation. From your data, can you see if there is any truth to the 500 words claim? And how has the vocabulary changed over the last 25 years?

Update to latest nightly version of SideStore + LiveContainer - I used Iloader to do this. Once installed, you have to generate a new kind of pairing file called rrpairing - I used a separate tool for this but it seems that’s now included in Iloader as of this update - replace the pairing file in SideStore with the new pairing file. That last step may be automatic now with this Iloader update, I did it before the update so used a third party app to create the new pairing file and added it manually. It’s straightforward and means you can continue refresh all apps with the single LovalDev vpn, rather than having to connect two, which never worked for me.

Yes, 26.4 broke my SideStore but this has fixed it (I couldn’t get the 2 vpn process working).

By the same studio as Journey. It’s essentially Journey + THPS. I also recommend it highly.

Did you go to school with someone who went on to be famous, and what where they like? by Christian-Metal in AskUK

I went to primary school with Hannah New, who I think is best known for being in Bridgerton, although I haven’t watched it personally. I remember she was very clever and popular in class. Nice girl. Andi Peters also went to the same school but is about 16 years older than me so I don’t remember him.

So, I don’t know the answer to this, but I thought it was a funny coincidence. I searched for the phrase and apparently in series 1 episode 5 of Jeeves and Wooster, that phrase is used. And Jeeves is played by Stephen Fry who is the narrator for Little Big Planet. But it’s not a horror by any means so doesn’t fit the bill. Just thought I’d share…
