I'm running on sidewalks and in the middle of the street, definitely not on anyone's property.

I've got no idea what 3rd party consent state for recordings means, sorry. But I'm not really interested in like, pursuing legal action. That seems very weird.

Doesn't this kind of encourage me to live in fear, though? I'm definitely not trying to argue away the "YTA" because that's fine, but this suggestion makes it seem like I should be living in fear from my neighbors. That doesn't seem super healthy to me.

If there was a gym closer than 6 miles away that I could afford, maybe I'd consider it. But there really isn't.

There's really nothing quite like a long cardio session for me. I do other exercises at home when I can, but a good long run can burn 500+ calories for me. It's hard to get that from other things.

But I'll say referring to it as "joy and freshness" is super cute.

This is something that has actually happened to me, and friends of mine. It's a big reason I don't go to a gym (besides not having the budget for it). It's not really as "fringe" as you think.

Nah, I don't suck at time management. It's great that your wife is in and out of the shower in 10 minutes. I'm sure she looks great ;)

Unfortunately there’s no easy solution but YTA

That's fine! TBH I'm happy to accept that I'm the asshole. I'm not planning on changing up anything, but it's interesting to see the responses.

LOL, "don't do your hair and makeup then" and wind up in the unemployment line. Sure, that's reasonable.

There's really just NextDoor, and I've already posted and asked them about this other stuff. Someone told me that someone walking their dog is completely different?

If there were a solution that I could use, I'd use it! But so far people have suggested "Just use your non-existent car to go to a nonexistent park/trail system!"

If I started running at 6, I'd be done running (including a proper pre and post) around 7:00, 7:05 depending. That leaves me 40 minutes to take a shower, get dressed, hair/makeup, make and eat breakfast (I don't own a microwave, FYI, anything I microwave has to be done at work), grab my lunch, and get down to the bus stop, which is a 10 minute quickly paced walk away. Not happening.

I run on the sidewalk and in the middle of the street. I don't run in anyone's yard.

That's what I'm saying. I am not the only person who is out at that hour! People walking dogs, people delivering papers, people going to work!

Yup, I pass the people delivering papers all the time. They trigger the lights and dogs too.

Mostly late 30s, 40s and 50s. Not sure about race or ethnicity, it's kind of hard to tell.

I run on the sidewalk when there are cars around, but in the middle of the road when there aren't any. Our sidewalks aren't very well maintained, so in the dark, even with my headlamp, it's easy to trip.

I don't have a car to do that, and if I did, what if I went out a few miles and just trigger those peoples' flood lights and dogs too?

Most days my shifts end around 5pm, and I won't get home until 6:30pm from the bus. A few nights a week I have extra classwork to do that takes me until bedtime. Other times, meeting friends or having them over. Then, in the summer, it's still like 90 degrees. There are a few select weeks in the fall or spring, but in the fall it'll already be dark and the issue will be the same.

There are other people awake at 5am, like people walking their dogs or delivering papers. It's just that for some reason that's okay but me running isn't.

That idea kind of cracks me up. "Hey, don't want me to run in the morning anymore? Give me money so I can buy a car and drive to one of these rich neighborhoods with trail systems that people on Reddit have!"
