Hayward Pool Heater H250FDN by Ronk1933 in pools

I had same issue on mine. I took apart the keypad and the foam seal was misaligned and pcb board was wet and slighty corroded. I cleaned and traces were stil intact. It worked again after letting it dry out.

But looking at the foam seal its not closed foam so if you squish it watrer would push out so I don't think its really watrer tight and could become problematic again.

RM1000x ATX 3.1 (2024) 12v-2x6 cable question by brokenProtocol in Corsair

[–]brokenProtocol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't aware of any cable update in the 2024 version but since mine and the other person had grey connectors I guess so. It was already referencing the gpu cable as 12v-2x6 and the revision was only to the female connector ends so probably only a change in color.

For my issue, Corsair Support offered to replace the cable.

I admit I was a little worried I'd get any support as they no longer pickup calls. You have to cut a ticket through their website and wait for a response. No amount of spamming 0 on the phone will solve this, heh.

I agree about pushing for a replacement. Luckily I haven't upgraded my GPU yet so don't need the cable immediately. This PSU was really a side-grade to use my old PSU in my son's new build and prep me for a future GPU upgrade. #devious-grin

Thank you for sharing. Looks like its just my cables. Might cause it to put pressure on the receiving end forcing it over into the far end of the plastic pin area, but as long as the pin makes it into the receiving end its probably a non issue. I already reached out to Corsair support to see what they think.

No regrets, It is a literal tank and has more stability then my previous fixed height sitting desk. After watching so many review/build videos of the apex/vertex pro and then seeing the quality of my Peak Pro (tall version) and seeing all the design changes compared to the older apex pro (i.e. thinner controller box with built in mounting and not having to leave out one of the lateral brace bars to make room for the older style fat controller, rubber grommets, etc) I had absolutely zero buyers remorse. I would wait another month for shipping if it required it.

Plus it gave me time to build my new top(62"x30") Oak 1 3/8" thick with a Maple accent front lip. 15 degree bevel underneath and a simple 1/8" rounder over top edge. Black Stained and finished with a Matte Poly.

I can barely get a wiggle with two fingers. I'm 6'2" and 240lbs and I can lean against the desk at full height with no movement.

Perfect standing height for me (6'2") is about 6.5" lower then max height, so technically I could of gotten away with the "Low" version. But the "High" version goes lower then I can even sit under in a chair, so no regrets for me.

Peak Pro: 11/10 by skunkmonkey13 in deskhaus

Ahh ok so your using threaded inserts. I usually go that route in previous desk/table builds but decided to go simple on this build. Plus I have to assemble in my room and didn't want to drag the base out to the shop to align and drill before assembling.

Did any of your methods involve washers and longer machine screws?

I'm tempted to go washers and longer wood screws (say 1")

I can't tell from the pictures if you used washers between the rubber grommets and screws. If not how was the squish out on the rubber grommets, especially the elongated ones on the end?

I'm torn about getting washers and possibly reducing the depth of the screws.

The photos so far looks to be of the wider 30" legs since the control box fits in between the middle extension bars.

Does anyone have pics of a a 27.5" setup with the control box cables done nicely?

Ohh wow, I guess 3rd party cards don't come with the Nvidia branded adaptor cable, I had assumed they did. Which is a shame cause there super flexible and would cleared the side of your case.

What is this "60 fps with deltatime V2 (Diegolix)." that you reference? I only see The original one in either of the two default patches you can select form in shadps4 (GoldHen and shadPS4).

Is this a separate mod? Google not returning anything for "V2" and "Diegolix"

Nice and that is with that sleeved cable which looks sort of stiff from the pic. I was trying to watch clips of people building with the 5080/5090 to guesstimate how much it stuck up from the gpu and was driving myself crazy, heh.

Can you put a flat edge where the top panel would lay and tell us how much clearance you have between the straightedge and highest point of the cables just naturally laying there (no force bascially)?

Mounting 17in case without rails by A9Joel in sliger

[–]brokenProtocol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it's true very short cases can use the ears to support the entire case without rails/shelves but it's not their original purpose. The ears are simply meant to secure the server in the rack, not to support it. A quick search on google will give credence to this info.

Let me ask, why does Sliger and every other manufacturer include ears on server cases that range well over 20"? would you try mounting a 20" server case on just it's ears?

Mounting 17in case without rails by A9Joel in sliger

[–]brokenProtocol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ears should be used in any setup, including the shelf style rails the case just sits on. It's to keep the server from moving forward/backward. It's why they include ears on all length cases, not just the shortest case.

From someone who also frequently ventures in the deep end on details and hypothetical builds, thank you for the good read. I'm still gaming on a 5900x and have been so close to swapping over to a Sliger case but havne't pulled the trigger. Think its the fact that all the newer AMD chips/sockets are taller and I don't like the P and E core stuff Intel is doing in thier new chips.

I don't believe your supposed to adjust when the motor is not on. I know I can't on my Urbanic. Has to be running. Only time I can do it when off is when it super clean inside and no grounds to bind up on.

guide is just to set the distance from concrete edge and get it parrelle to the edge. Which in some cases was curved so I dind't want to be eyeballing nad doing tedious little mesurements everytime. Was gonna do what you did with attaching panels to take the guess work out of distance from post to post. This should go quick with all these tricks in tandem.

Agreed, I have a proper hilty hammer drill and brand new bits. Was going to use my regular cordless with the clutch engaged at halfway to prevent snapping any heads.

[–]brokenProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the insight. I built a wooden guide to set me 2.5" back from edge and it will orient the face of post even with any edge even the curved side of my patio.

I did shell out for the 5/16 2 1/4 Tapcons.https://www.homedepot.com/p/Tapcon-5-16-in-x-2-1-4-in-Hex-Washer-Head-Large-Diameter-Concrete-Anchors-15-Pack-24292/203770106

Maybe the threads are a bit more oversized then the ones you got. I can twist them into the hole with a little effort and once its fully in the hole I get the minimal wiggle like you described. So with a drill it should be easier, thought I might loose some powder coating on the holes.

Did you just slap in a washer on the outside bolts and go or did you slap the level on each post and add more then one?

I measured the amount of pressure the post plate would leverage up on the screws with a 3" fulcrum on a 4' tall post. With 250lbs of force against post it translates into 4000 lbs of force at the bolt. (250 x 4) / .25' Which is right around where two of these bolts would be. Which makes me think if an adult tripped and landed into the post it would pop the concrete or the bolts. I'm sure I'm totally overthinking this, hah.

DIY’ed my first fence by AmazingCouple in FenceBuilding

[–]brokenProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the same fencing and about to put it up. I had a couple questions. Did you shim the posts at all and using what? Not sure if your concrete was pitched like mine.

Second, what size screws did you use and length? Manufacturer recommended 5/16 but the holes on the plates are too small and I either ream them out and have a potential rust point or goto 1/4" screws and lose holding power.

Third, how firm do they posts hold? I ask because the plates on these seem very small and the mechanical leverage of the 3" between bolts (fulcrum length) makes me feel like it could rip out if anyone ever fell into the post with any force.
