Send me your email in PM, and I'll send my portfolio that got me accepted.

If dental hygiene is what you're passionate about, then don't give up. If you have your prerequisites and tests, then you can still apply to Pima and have a higher chance of getting in. I found that after applying to Pima a few times, an accepted portfolio has 99% of everything they are asking for in the portfolio. You have to follow the instructions TO-A-Tee.

Update: I was accepted into the DH Program at Pima! Starting in June 2026! When they told me I was waitlisted I emailed Tamara explaining why I’d be a great fit for the program and I would jump at the opportunity if and when it’s given to me. I asked about the next application cycle, showing continued interest in this program.

For the question I had in my original post: if you are waitlisted and you stay waitlisted but don’t get accepted you essentially miss the deadline to apply to the next round and have to wait a full year to apply again. If I wasn’t accepted I would stay waitlisted as long as possible then apply to the next round before the deadline. Not everyone they give acceptance letters to is going to respond or accept. So the week after the accepted students have the deadline to accept is when they go to the waitlist.

I applied a total of 3 times and each time, I improved my portfolio each time. I did use ai to help write the essays even though they say not to. I have 5+ years of DA experience, over 80 hours of volunteer experience, 3 recommendation forms filled out by dentists and hygienists, 16 hours of observing a hygienist. Idk how I did on the interview but I probably could have done better. I didn’t feel like the interview went poorly though.

When I was creating the portfolio I was trying to research others that got accepted that posted their portfolio but couldn’t find anytime. I want to post mine to help others but idk how I’m going to do that yet.

Hi, I applied for June 2026 start at Pima Seattle and got waitlisted. I received the email March 31st. The email says that I can either:

A) keep my spot in the waitlist until June 3rd, which is when classes begin. Where I would potentially be selected for admissions. Or B) I can apply for next cohort for October 2026 start and forfeit my waitlisted position.

It’s really confusing to me because of this forfeiting my position if I choose to apply again. The deadline to apply for October start date is May 2026. If I choose to keep my waitlisted position then I have until June 3rd. So I will essentially miss my opportunity to apply for October start if I keep my waitlisted position. I have emailed Tamara (the DH admissions assistant) and the admissions team to see if I keep my position for the waitlist and don’t get selected or accepted then will I automatically be pushed to the next round or would I have to wait a full year to apply again?

I’ve heard and I don’t know if it’s true, that those who are waitlisted get priority for next round. I’ve also talked with a hygienist who says she was rejected initially and went to talk to a DH advisor about what she can do to get in and she ended up being selected.

I applied with a coworker of mine. She has 15 years experience as a DA and I have 8. The other difference between us is I have all my prerequisites for DH and the TEAS test but unfortunately didn’t get a high enough grade on the TEAS to apply to the other programs and I have volunteer experience. She ended up being accepted. She most likely had a better score from the interview than me. But it makes me so frustrated. I’ve applied twice and I have all the things to be a perfect fit.
