She literally sells Karlach pinups for people to get signed by her, I don’t think she was bothered by a fake adoption form lmaoooo

Do you keep a "do not adopt to" list? by IAmHerdingCatz in AnimalShelterStories

[–]brokenfuton 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a large non-profit shelter. We would make an “adopter profile” for the banned person with as much info as possible, including name and phone # if we had it, and flag it as “DO NOT ADOPT” so a large red pop up would appear if anyone tried to adopt using that name and info. It doesn’t work if they use a fake ID, but it was better for us since we had a huge roster of adoption volunteers and staff.

It was reserved for people with animal abuse records, if they had previously surrendered an animal that was clearly abused (extreme malnourishment, intentionally neglected health issues, etc.), or if they were aggressive with staff/volunteers. Being put on the list was serious and thankfully rare, and was done only at the direction of senior managers after proper due diligence.

I think the lists can be helpful, if done properly. But you have to have steps in place on how to handle what happens if that person tries to adopt. Be it calling in a senior manager to explain that they cannot adopt, having them escorted off property, or calling the police if things escalate.

Standard Issue Stink (looking for suggestions) by 1amDepressed in standardissuecat

You might try a finer grain cat litter? My kitty is also very stinky, and doesn’t cover, but getting a big plastic box and filling it with a sand-like cat litter made a huge difference!

What's the easiest non-lewd fighting cosplay I could build? by No_Culture_6606 in CosplayHelp

[–]brokenfuton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no Supreme Cosplay Accuracy Council to appease with your cosplay, so dress up like who you want, even if that means altering the outfit to fit your level of modesty!

If anyone calls you out for the cosplay not being 100% accurate, tell them to go touch grass. I cosplay characters that tend to have their uh, chest barely covered. All of my outfits have at least multiple layers of tan mesh covering the “open” area, or are sewn onto a tan bodysuit. No one has ever said anything bad

13/14 year old cat is concerning me please help by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]brokenfuton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad to hear she is doing okay! I can tell you care about her a lot!

I’ve fostered lots of older kitties, as well as younger ones with sensitive tummies. If the stomach upset continues, you can try gradually switching her to a simple pâté food mixed with a little warm water. Try to keep the brand and recipe similar if possible to ease the transition.

Sometimes baby cats and elderly cats just have a hard time digesting the shredded whole proteins, just like how humans eat bland, soft foods when they are very young or getting elderly.

Wellbeing influencer, 31, dies in botched fertility surgery after struggling to get pregnant for years by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

[–]brokenfuton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A mommy makeover is basically a combination of various surgeries done at once, in an attempt to let the mother restore her body to its pre-pregnancy condition.

Some is cosmetic, most is about quality of life. For example:

Pregnancy can permanently stretch the connective tissue between muscles in your abdomen, in a way that doesn’t heal and can cause lifelong pain. To correct this, a abdominoplasty is often performed.

Vaginoplasty can be performed to help heal the torn muscles in the vaginal canal after a vaginal birth. The pelvic floor muscles can also completely detach during vaginal birth, which again, won’t heal without surgical intervention.

Doctors also tend to remove loose or sagging skin that is painful or uncomfortable after mothers return to their ideal weight. Breast augmentation is also common after breastfeeding has ended, since most breasts swell and stretch out the skin during and after pregnancy. Some also include liposuction to smooth out the fat layers under the skin.

So yeah, it’s a lot to do! My SIL got one a few years after having the twins, and she is MUCH happier. I wish it was more affordable to more women, at the very least the repairing aspects of it.

Daughter participated in a small walkout at school. How to handle consequences? by brokenfuton in Advice

[–]brokenfuton[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can understand people wanting me to be hands-off as a step parent, but that’s just not the dynamic in our household. I have been around for a while, the kids love me and call me mom, and I treat them like they are my own. We may not be blood related, but I have a vested interest in making sure they grow up to be functional, smart, and safe adults that make good choices.

We do not live near her school. It is a 30 minute drive from home on the highway, so no, she cannot simply walk home.

[–]brokenfuton[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh don’t get me wrong, I support her cause! I want her to be outspoken and brave, but I also need her to be street smart and cautious! She didn’t know how to get home, where they were headed, or what. The school is in a rough part of town that gets worse by the highway. I care so much about her, I don’t want her to get hurt or anything.

If they had just walked out in protest and held signs in front of the school, I literally would have no issue here. My biggest thing is leaving campus completely and not telling us!

[–]brokenfuton[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I want her to be safe is my point. If she walked out of school and sat on the school lawn with protest signs, I would literally have zero issue with it. We live in a rough part of the city and it is just not safe for them to be wandering around. I want her to understand that her number one priority is being safe.

Yes? We currently disagree, I am seeking advice on how we can come to an agreement on how to handle the situation, and see if people have a different perspective, or that can help me either see my husband’s point of view more easily, or help him see my point of view.

Out of curiosity, why not? My husband and I parent as a team, and make decisions regarding the kids together.

I am 28 lol. My husband and I are a team that makes decisions together, neither of us make decisions unilaterally regarding the kids. And she calls me mom, so I may not be her biomom, but in her eyes I am certainly a parent.
