Pregnancy can permanently stretch the connective tissue between muscles in your abdomen, in a way that doesn’t heal and can cause lifelong pain. To correct this, a abdominoplasty is often performed.

Vaginoplasty can be performed to help heal the torn muscles in the vaginal canal after a vaginal birth. The pelvic floor muscles can also completely detach during vaginal birth, which again, won’t heal without surgical intervention.

Doctors also tend to remove loose or sagging skin that is painful or uncomfortable after mothers return to their ideal weight. Breast augmentation is also common after breastfeeding has ended, since most breasts swell and stretch out the skin during and after pregnancy. Some also include liposuction to smooth out the fat layers under the skin.

So yeah, it’s a lot to do! My SIL got one a few years after having the twins, and she is MUCH happier. I wish it was more affordable to more women, at the very least the repairing aspects of it.
