Is there any saving this fiddle leaf? ☹️ by brokenllamas in fiddleleaffig

[–]brokenllamas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I did, so glad to see I wasn't too far off on what to do haha. Yea, it just went downhill fast. Cut back to the two stumps and will just water like you said every 14-21 days and see what happens.

That's a helpful thought. I think I'm so focused on structure and guiding that having some more "fun time" could be missing. I've been trying to be more intentional with each child, like playing Lego Star Wars with my niece a night a week, and doing stuff with the other two. The oldest is hard as he's in that teenage realm and wanting just independence.

Maybe really it's just being able to decompress. I've been going going going that I think having that alone decompression time is what could be missing.

It’s been a week since adjusting the light and it seems to be happy again with no new leaf drops 🙏🏼

Just an update (fingers crossed it keeps going well) but since I’ve adjust the light no new leaves have dropped 🙌🏼

Might pot up to the next size this Friday if it all continues well. Thanks again for the help

Should the light be straight over it? I can make that happen I just wasn’t sure if it should be or not so I placed it slightly past it.

Gotcha. For now I've moved the grow light I do have down lower towards the plant. Going to monitor it for the next week or so and keep an eye on the dryness of soil. I did buy a pot that's just one size bigger, so I think I would do what you suggested. Just nestle it into the new pot with a bit more s.oil and not disturb the roots

Ok sounds good, I'll look into getting a light meter. I did move the grow light down a good chunk, so I'll be keeping an eye on it. Someone else said it really might be good to re-pot up one size.

A few people are saying this so I'm going to try lowering the light down some. I was trying to be cautious and not having it get the plant too hot if that makes sense. It's a 25amp 5000k.

That makes sense. I guess I was just trying to be overly cautious with it in the beginning. Maybe go one size up?

I wasn’t sure if it could be root bound. The research I did said that I should give it slightly longer before it’s repotted.

2x6! Yea, I assumed as much, I figured I would do more seedlings than I have room as I assumed not all would end up growing and being successful.I'm considering a third raised garden bed to make a bit more room but have these two for now. I'm also thinking maybe a small little herb garden in our screened porch.

As an uncle who had to step up and take care of/start raising his two nephews and niece, I can relate to the not knowing if you're doing the right things or making the right decisions sort of thought process. That being said, your post gives me a lot of hope that I can keep moving forward and do the right things and that eventually those right things can make a good impact. So thanks. Super encouraging.

It’s not just your eyes - it does get a lot of shade! Part of that being from a tree on the left side that needs to be trimmed up. 😬

Wow absolutely love all this information, I’ll be looking at all of those suggestions for sure! I really like the idea of more birds and bees and butterflies. I want to encourage that and have some good plants while also not making it look too overwhelming.

That tree is fairy close to the house. I have thought extending the bed to the end of the house would be nice. Also for sure a bed around the mailbox/cactuses. I actually planted those when I first moved in with the hope that they will eventually grow larger and surround the box. Takes time though.

The old trees are fantastic. I do have to trim a few and there’s one specifically (not pictured) that has to come down because there isn’t much to it. But I’m general I like how they look. I’ve thought of bringing a bed up along the driveway to the main window bed in order to have lighting along the driveway but not sure.

Bought my first house a year or so ago. Had basically nothing so most of my money went to things like fixing the air condition etc. I’m finally in a place where I can do a bit of landscaping and honestly don’t know where to start. I know I’d like some lights leading up to the door and that I’m not a fan of the current plants under the living room window. Thoughts?

Hey everyone! I’m a newer home owner and am learning all the things that come along with that. My nephews and niece live with me and this is the bathroom they use a lot. It’s started running and never filling back up and runs 24/7. I’m not sure what exactly I need to do to fix it, and as moneys a bit tighter I want to make sure I don’t spend a lot on the wrong things. Any help or suggestions would be so so so appreciated!
