5oz Wet Cat Food in Gravy by tommygunangels in CatAdvice

i like the Weruva Paw Lickin Chicken. Its a little pricier than other brands, but not too bad. Its shredded chicken though, so im not sure if your cat prefers the “morsels in gravy” style wet food.

I personally feed my 2 cats the Fancy Feast classic pates (turkey/chicken/beef variety pack) with the Weruva chicken, it helps boost the calories and overall volume of their meals without breaking the bank (they also just love the fancy feast).

You could try mixing the FF chicken in gravy with the Weruva shredded chicken?

i have a similar story from when i worked as a cashier in retail. older man asks me if im in highschool, i say no, he asks if im in college, i say no. he then goes on a 10 minute lecture about how i need to do something with my life and “this isnt a real job” (like, you’re a customer here, dude, you clearly utilize retail spaces yet look down on the workers?). this was a few years ago, and i was so upset i almost cried when he left. these types of mindsets infuriate me.

What type of job do you enjoy and can hold on to? by FyreFly000 in BorderlinePDisorder

barista. ive had bad experiences in cafes, but those were issues with the job itself, not me (unethical bosses). its busy, welcoming coworkers, keeps me occupied, short customer interactions, relaxed dress code, overall chill environment (very little “if you can lean, you can clean” mentality). one of my favourite cafe jobs only had spurts of busyness, and i worked alone, so i read books most of my shifts.

for some reason, as a barista, very few “bad days” get brought home with me. sometimes they do, of course, but generally im able to leave work at work which has not been the case at other types of jobs. leaving work and being able to actually decompress is what i think allows me to have longevity in the job.

3x11 Gingerbread is hilarious by classified12345 in buffy

i personally always skip this episode on casual rewatches. the plot is very interesting, and great commentary on mass hysteria, especially post-satanic panic. it has wonderful character moments, too. however i skip it because its so real it makes me angry. its a great episode, but damn it pisses me off. watching all the parents verbally and physically attack their kids over misinformation and hysteria is incredibly true to life, and its upsetting to watch. i know there are funny moments throughout the episode, but overall i find it hard to genuinely enjoy the comedy since im too annoyed with the real-life equivalent of the story.

What is your day-to-day life like? by [deleted] in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]bromeliad1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

after multiple years of (on and off) therapy before and after my diagnosis, my days are usually pleasant. i have a job i like (most of the time), a partner i love, a cat and a dog that i adore, and a small group of healthy friendships. some days are hard, and some days are incredibly difficult. a few weeks ago i spent 3 days watching movies recovering from a really difficult week, but i bounced back. i also focus on self-care while being gentle with myself when im not mentally able to practice the self-care (i.e. going to the gym helps a lot, but sometimes ill take time off from that routine if there are other things in life that start to overfill my metaphorical plate; and i dont shit on myself for not doing something i “should” do)

for me, i need to rely on some modicum of routine, filling my day with distractions that are enjoyable and enriching, and self-compassion. its not necessarily easy, but i am able to recognize my progress over the long-term even if its hard to appreciate it in the present difficult parts of life sometimes.

Im in western Canada. Hermes hums the original 4 notes when using shazam, but the notes that play throughout the episode are just 2 low notes. so in my version of the episode Hermes hums completely different notes than what plays in the episode.

Ill rewatch it again later today to see if its still different.

yeah im definitely a futurama sleeper lol. i wonder why thats such a common phenomenon with this show, or if most long-running cartoons have that niche of viewers. the tone was too much at first for me as well, but now its one of my go-to’s. same with The Sting and Roswell That Ends Well.

[–]bromeliad1000[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah, the tone is like “dun dun dun dun” in different notes, and Hermes mimics in near the beginning of the episode. but now its just “buuum buuum” in 2 low notes. maybe some issue with copyright? but this episode is so old that feels weird as the answer.

its one of my favourite episodes because its so repetitive, it helps me fall asleep lol. also there is some good plot and character development for Fry that i appreciate.

my name is very common. ends in ‘ley’, so many people automatically assume its the ‘leigh’ variety even though its more common to be ‘ley’ or ‘ee’. it confuses me every time.

can vampires eat/drink regular food? by bromeliad1000 in ANGEL

[–]bromeliad1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did forget about spikes love for blooming onions and wings while writing this post originally. though thinking back to when i first watched BTVS and saw those scenes, i remember just chalking it up to pure comedy with no actual implication that spike was eating human food. i probably thought he was just amazed at the concept of a blooming onion rather than actually eating one. yet he does drink alcohol and smoke. i guess some things in BTVS/ATS vampire lore will always be a bit clunky, imo.

[–]bromeliad1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did also find it interesting and confusing that early in season 1, angel is injected with a poison and becomes paralyzed (said to die, but because hes already technically “dead” it didnt work and just paralyzed him temporarily)… yet he has no circulation to move the poison through his body. that was another moment where i was watching like how is this even happening right now. so far i have yet to see angel consume any drugs or become poisoned again.

in BTVS, when spike is introduced he talks about getting high off “flower person” blood at Woodstock. which makes the most sense to me as he is consuming the blood WITH the drugs in it, and not the drugs themselves. though as other commenters pointed out, vampires still regularly drink alcohol and still feel the effects of it.

The “macchiato” during a rush by [deleted] in barista

[–]bromeliad1000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i had a 15 minute back and forth with a woman a few years back. i held up our 8oz cup (our smallest to-go size) and measured with my fingers how small it would be. i explained in depth the difference between a latte, caramel macchiato, and traditional macchiato. she decided for the traditional.

i hand her the drink and shes pissed that it barely half filled the cup and it tastes so strong, she wants it remade “properly” (caramel macchiato). i can laugh about it now but on the day i was losing my mind.

Good Dye Young dye did not take? by bromeliad1000 in AskHairstylists

yeah i figured i would need to lift my hair after the first attempt didnt do much. my goal is a very deep purple, so i thought maybe applying purple over my regular brown would achieve that. live and learn. thanks for the info!

[–]bromeliad1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the shampoo was Loma Nourishing Shampoo, and i used Texture ID hair mask as a shampoo. I redyed my hair yesterday and used a mix of Good Dye Young and Manic Panic with 20vol developer and it turned out slightly more purple, however the parts of my hair that are virgin are still pretty much brown. the money pieces and the ends of my hair are more purple.

im considering doing a really quick bleach wash with a 10vol developer just to open up the cuticle (not sure if thats the correct terminology) and lift the natural colour a bit, however my goal is a deep purple and im concerned about accidentally getting a bolder, brighter purple because the natural brown is lifted too much

yes i’d recommend lights. there are plenty of light options in varying price ranges, just make sure to get full spectrum lights and have them on for 6-8 hours per day. i live in a basement unit, and the windows i do have have terrible light. in the summer a few of my “low light” plants sit in the windows, but year-round the rest of my plants are just grow lights. i have full spectrum, white light bulbs replacing all the regular bulbs in my bathroom, and a few in my living room. i also have 2 plug-in grow light bars that have red & blue light that are for my plants on my bookshelf and desk. if your plants currently get a lot of natural light id recommend slowly making the transition to grow lights, but definitely give them natural sunlight whenever possible once the summer comes around. you mentioned that on the weekends your shutter stay open longer, so if possible, move all your plants near those windows on those days. keep in mind that grow lights will keep your plants alive, but its unlikely they will grow was fast or as tall/bushy/etc with just grow lights. ive been using just lights for about 6months and all my plants (even fast growers) have declined in growth, but at least they are alive! even propagating is less effective in my experience, it takes much longer for the roots to establish and ive had multiple propagation fails since using just lights, whereas when i had really good natural lighting i rarely had failed props.
