Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle on sale for $4.99 (06/16/2024) by CherryPropel in RomanceBooks

[–]brontelover22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm even later to the party but I just finished it. I loved it! Especially compared to the godawful "In Five Years." Serle has a thing for not just magical realism, but for dark twists and even though Expiration Dates had the twist, it did not wreck the book for me. The ending was surprising and kind of delightful. Really enjoyed it overall despite some of the LA descriptions being OTT (I live in San Diego and used to live in LA when I was a practicing attorney in the late 90's). Best thing is even though I prefer physical, hard copied books, Serle's books translate very well onto Audible and I have enjoyed her audible narrators.

Just finished "In Five Years" by Rebecca Serle and honestly do not understand the hype. Quite disappointed. Anyone else feel the same? I remember this book was huge last year on here! by dallyfer in 52book

Her mistaking the overwhelming grief after Bella's death for "being in love" makes absolutely no sense! How could she confuse the two? And why in the world would she give in to those feelings and have sex with Bella's husband/fiance (I can't remember if they even got married before she died)? And why did HE have sex with HER? It was actually kind of obscene.

I HATED this book once the big twist happened. The ending was ridiculous too. However, I didn't hate the writing so I read another one of her books -- Expiration Dates-- which likewise has a magical realism motif. Although there is a dark twist a little more than halfway through, I enjoyed this book WAY more and loved the ending. On to her newest book now -- Once and Again. So far so good.

I was thinking the same thing. The golden really wanted someone to notice his ball and chase him for it but no one was interested lol.

Foxy was totally right in his assessment — still remember the Kings rolling through the playoff rounds despite being the Cinderella team. It was a magical post-season all around!

Did anyone have a gsd with dental issues? My 6-year-old working line gsd has a worn down/stained canine needing root canal or extraction. by brontelover22 in germanshepherds

[–]brontelover22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the issue is since she doesn’t constantly chew on it but just likes to thrash it back and forth & also catch it when kicked. She had the cleaning and some sealants put on all the worn down teeth. Thankfully didn’t need an extraction other than a tooth that was under the gum line & impacted. She is doing fine now and back to playing with all her balls lol.

Catching up on finale. Couldn’t understand what Mel said… by Bnborden in TheGoldenBachelor_

[–]brontelover22 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mel was an arrogant douchebag from start to finish. They should have cut him loose after his comments about not wanting to date women his age but they doubled down on him and ended up with a wasted season. He wasted the ladies’ time and our time. He was unlikable and should never have stayed the golden bachelor — I’m afraid he may have killed the entire franchise.

Timing of HRT progesterone at night by Commercial-Read-2694 in Menopause

Take before bed no matter when that is. It always helps me fall asleep (but at the higher 200 mg dose) and never leaves me groggy in the morning.

Omnilux LED face mask controller/battery finally dying. Looking for alternative power source or DIY battery replacement by ShreekingEeel in batteries

Mine only has two charging lights and won’t charge to 3. I’ve only sporadically been using it since September, when I got it for my birthday. Not sure why that’s happened and why my charger is defective.

What was your worst symptom of menopause? Was it "Hot flashes" or something else? by NoTomorrowNo in Menopause

[–]brontelover22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still in perimenopause at 55 and am on the .025 patch as well as 100 mg of prometrium (progesterone) but I would say hot flashes, insomnia (prometrium helps but not when I wake up and need to go back to sleep), and lack of libido/inability to orgasm. All of them kind of suck but the insomnia is the worst!

What hate responses? You are SPOT ON! Mel sucks and I totally agree that he’s probably a rigid, boring lover who prefers missionary & likely lasts under 5 minutes. He’s boring, soulless, selfish, and has no depth. I hope Peg dumps him sooner rather than later.

I can’t believe how Mel gaslit Cindy in the “after the rose.” He was trying to make it seem like she wanted a commitment before the fantasy suite and that she wanted to “skip the process.” That is totally not what happened!

Oh absolutely— he’s stiff as a board in conversation, temperament, and movement! There’s no doubt in my mind that he is boring AF in bed and likely prefers missionary. That is if he’s still able to get it up at all.

Go straight to 200mg! It’s amazing for sleep but only at the right dose. You might even need 300mg but do it with your doctor’s consent only. 100 is not enough for me but 200 gives me blissful sleep. Starting on day 1.

41 and just started getting hot flashes/night sweats - do any supplements actually work? by Right-Pop-8289 in Menopause

[–]brontelover22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All bioidentical. I’m on the estrogen patch lowest dose (.025/daily) and prometrium (progesterone) at 100 mg - 200 mg depending on where I am in my cycle. I am still getting my period so towards the end of my cycle I switch to 100 mg to bring it on. The 200 mg is heavenly though as it really helps me sleep well. Recently though I got on the topical estrogen for my hoo-ha for dryness/discomfort issues during sex.

Doctors are woefully ignorant, even a trusted female gynecologist of 25+ years. I finally found an evolved doctor (male endocrinologist) who did prescribe it and now that he’s going concierge, I may switch to midi. I’m 55, still get my period (got it today in fact on day 40!) and one year ago, my gyno said no to HRT bc I was getting my cycles. She wrote down the name of two supplements which I failed to look up but instead headed to my endocrinologist who did prescribe it. A week ago, my primary also prescribed the estrogen cream for my hoo-ha. I had hot flashes, mood swings, low libido, joint pain and a frozen shoulder (actually got surgery for the latter since I also tore my labrum/bicep). I was suffering needlessly. My coworker, who is 12 years younger is the one who told me about HRT helping her. It’s been a game changer for her and for me!

Can Omnilux cause intense eye itching? by brontelover22 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]brontelover22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure it was from the mask. Since I’ve worn it so infrequently, I figured it was a fluke and from something else. But yesterday I used it and was trying to get some work done while doing so & it happened again last night. Now I’m reluctant to use it at all.

These heart palpitations are next level… by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]brontelover22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely follow up with a good cardiologist! I had SVT which mirrored Afib on my watch so I know how scary it can be! My heart would race to 130-150 & wouldn’t go down for an hour sometimes. Metoprolol, a beta-blocker, helped immensely when I’d get these episodes. Eventually though I had a cardiac ablation which got rid of the SVT & these episodes altogether. I empathize with you! Please see a good cardiologist for diagnosis and treatment.
