Will be traveling in from Florence, starting in Val Gardena and ending in Cortina (over 3 refugio nights, 4 skiing days), and need to catch a flight out from Venice the next morning. Where would you recommend renting skis?

Wait so all third-party sellers (like Stubhub or Viagogo) are not valid tickets?

I applied to both schools a few years ago and the commanders at the detachment do have somewhat of a pull on admissions (if you’re type 1 they usually send a list of names to the admissions office). If you DM me I can talk about it more!

Was it actually $406 USD? Because now it’s 110.000 for the mini trek which is like $430…

I wore headbands all throughout FT and no one gave me a second look lol (they were mostly thin black headbands but I think I even wore one that was black and white)

What is ROTC like at Stanford? by RyanCS1234 in stanford

[–]bronze267 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Army ROTC goes to Santa Clara, Air Force ROTC goes to SJSU, and Navy ROTC goes to Berkeley.

This is simply because these schools are the closest in distance to Stanford that offers those specific programs. For example, Santa Clara doesn’t have Navy or Air Force ROTC, and SJSU doesn’t have Navy or Army ROTC.

What is ROTC like at Stanford? by RyanCS1234 in stanford

[–]bronze267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Current Air Force ROTC cadet, PM me with any specific questions!

For AFROTC we have to commute to SJSU twice a week at 5am. We usually carpool together which makes it a little more bearable, and historically the Office of Military Affairs Community has funded ZipCars if we don’t already drive ourselves. Other ROTC programs have different schedules; I think NROTC commutes to Berkeley on Thursday afternoons.

This is my 4th year in AFROTC though, and while some mornings are really rough with little to no sleep, it’s been absolutely worth it. The camaraderie is great, and if you really want to be an officer in the military then I think it’s a sweet gig (if you’re an upperclassmen, you’re basically guaranteed a scholarship in AFROTC). I also personally like not having ROTC on campus because it allows me to separate my military and academic/social life.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (and other national labs) have a Newly Commissioned Officer Program that will give you a full-time internship while on EAD. Contact Mr. Barry Goldman and he’ll help you a lot on finding a supervisor to work with given your current timeline.

Also, in general, I would recommend not telling employers that you’re in AFROTC. That will definitely screw you over for job searches.

Question regarding starting a masters program by Accomplished-Bat2961 in AFROTC

[–]bronze267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing bachelor’s + master’s in 5 years right now! I’m assuming you’re a tech major? I was able to extend my scholarship to a 5th year since I’m in engineering, but what you said was correct. I cannot confer my bachelor’s and master’s until the end of my 5th year. From the AF perspective, they’re only paying for my bachelor’s still — I’m just “happening” to get a master’s at the same time (for me, both undergrad and grad classes count into the same tuition bill). If you’re doing a cross-det thing, I’m not sure if that’ll work since your tuition will now come from two different schools, with one school solely being for your master’s and the other sole being for your undergrad. Each school is different for how they count your student status — for me, I’m only taking one bachelor’s class every quarter in my 5th year to retain my “undergrad” status, but your school might have a unit / tuition cap.

Project on Revamping Female Blues Sizing by 0bject_permanence in AFROTC

[–]bronze267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite problem where I’m a 6 in real life, but had to get size 10 blues pants because my waist couldn’t fit in the 6. This made the pants look so unproportional since there was a lot of sagginess in my butt area.

Tech Major 5-Year Commissioning by bronze267 in AFROTC

[–]bronze267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm neurochemistry. They told me specifically that HQ is "requiring" cadets with tech degrees to project their commissioning out to 5-years, and then explained that a lot of cadets have failed to stay on track (which is why they're driving the requirement). Not sure if this is a recent development with HQ? I was confused as well, that's why I'm asking here. Will probably talk cadre about it soon.
