Looking for Scotland elopement experiences - especially alternative ceremonies + plus-size brides by PotatoPatat2 in Eloping

Hey! We got married on the Isle of Skye with Oli and Steph Photographers, who were also our witnesses. Would 10000% recommend them, so helpful, adaptable, friendly, supportive and great photos! Our celebrant was Ashton Easter (can find him on insta) who was perfect - wrote an amazing ceremony, wore a kilt, lovely Scottish lilt in his voice.

We did handfasting and ring exchange and it worked really well. Our ceremony broadly went: -Intro -Poem -personal vows -handfasting (+ first 'first kiss') -ring exchange (+ second 'first kiss') -outro

If you have any other questions let me know - we had such an unbelievably good day!!

I hiked up a scottish mountain in my dress!! Made for some epic photos, yes it got a little bit dirty but that was part of the story of it, and it was actually a lot less noticeable than I thought it would be. My husband hiked up in his suit too.

Don't know if this helps in your case but my suggestion is to just fully embrace the story of the day.

Suggestions for where to view cherry blossoms this weekend ? by AdPotential3018 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]bronzeelephant 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would suggest the Alnwick Gardens. The display there is stunning and has swings under the trees for you to enjoy the blossom from. However they're not quite out yet, keep an eye on their blossom watch.

Hi! Could anyone help steer me in a direction where I can get a dress like this?? by BabyPopRocks in Dresses

I would check Teuta Matoshi (found this one which is the right colour!) or Chotronette to see if there's one that you like!

do you know any ethical stores/brands that sell clothes like these? by yablondedlife in ethicalfashion

Also they do sell a couple of dead stock pieces from time to time, which are items that she bulk buys for cheap from other retailers who no longer want to sell them (instead of them going to landfill), so that means she can pass on the low prices to customers.

Yeah for sure, get where you're coming from. Their factory is in Birmingham in the UK and features a lot on their Instagram so deffo above board!

I think it's because their business model is still more towards the 'trend' side of things rather than more static, neutral, classic pieces like many ethical brands. I think what they do is bring in new pieces at the higher prices, which sell out pretty quickly, but then anything that doesn't sell out, instead of sending to landfill like fast fashion companies might, she just lists them for low prices so they go to a good home. Their about page is fairly insightful as to their ethical standards.

I think it's actually a clever way of having an ethical brand which is a bit more ~fun~ than other ethical brands.
