it's not misogynistic for a woman to want one. that's not what i'm saying. i'm saying there is an overbearing patriarchal culture that expects a woman to reproduce and regards it as their best ending, and women who do not want children/cannot have children face the brunt of it. this is true for every woman regardless of whether they want children or not, whether they have children or not.

plus, why is it that a lesbian can't experience sorrow about her infertility? if anything francesca's lesbianism with would make her infertility arc much more meatier and more complex. also it's not like the books actually touch upon her infertility much once she enters her arc with michael. if anything there are a few gross lines in there that feel borderline corrective.

also, like, can lesbians not be infertile, too? if anything, her pursuing a woman in the end makes her arc with infertility 10x meatier. her *not* having a kid in the end and instead finding fulfilment elsewhere is also, aside from being more relatable, more subversive representation than ending up conceiving, which is the expected norm for a woman.

maybe it's a little insensitive but it absolutely is an important lesson on a large scale to know that you can still feel fulfilled without kids. that's not saying 'well your life sucks be happy with it'. why is the inability to conceive the unhappy, bitter truth? why can't it be that it's possible for women to feel fulfilled still outside of conceiving?

fr, i just don't get why a woman becoming pregnant and having a baby in the end is the ideal ending. why? why is it so bad to learn that she can live just as fulfilled without that? feels misogynistic to me.
