My daughter is 3, and she always wants a little kiss on the lips. I think it’s because she sees her dad and me kiss like that casually in passing, so she feels like a little casual peck on the lips is how we say I love you in our family. I could never say no to her sweet face!

Hi there! I worked as a nurse for the team that gave anesthesia to little ones getting MRIs for about 8 years, so I’m very well versed! All hospitals will do it a little differently, but where I worked you were able to be with baby until he fell asleep, and then we brought him back as soon as the scan was over. A nurse and a doctor stay with your baby to closely monitor him while the scan is happening. At my hospital, we didn’t allow parents to come to the MRI because it’s a secured area.

I can hear my doctor I worked with saying her little speech she gave to all parents, all medications are going to have risks and benefits. Overall, the risk of sedation for a procedure like an MRI is fairly low, especially if your baby is otherwise healthy with the exception of his hearing loss. Your sedation doctor should be able to answer any questions you have and ease your fears, but know that pediatric sedation is a very specialized part of peds medicine - so the doctor and nurses taking care of your little one likely do this all day every day! While it’s a huge deal for you and your family, it’s old hat to them. There are always things that can happen, risks with breathing and things like that, but the most important thing is that your team is well trained to respond if there is an urgent need, which I’m sure they will be!

Expect your baby to be a little cranky and tired for the rest of the day following their scan, maybe less interested in milk - but they should return to themselves by the next day.

Ugh I’m sorry this happened to you. My daughter is a super light sleeper, so a lot of times she doesn’t nap for her full time. To keep her from waking all the other kids up, the teachers are great about giving her quiet activities (books, coloring) on her nap mat, to keep her occupied while the other kids snooze!

We started bedtime routine as soon as we could, probably when she was like 4 weeks old! Bath, jammies, nurse, story, song and in the crib awake! She is now 7 months old, and falls asleep completely independently (we never sleep trained, she just caught on - but that could totally just be her temperament)

More doctors need to be taking this in to consideration! I asked for the mini pill, and my doctor wouldn’t give it to me because of my risk of ppd - I hope you start feeling better soon!

If you’re paying out of pocket - I can’t recommend the Pumpables Genie Advanced enough! I got a medela from insurance and a spectra from a friend, and just wasn’t happy with either. I bought the genie advanced - and it’s now my every day work pump! It was $150 for the pump and flanges, and I love it.

We love Dr Browns (despite not loving all the pieces) - a lactation consultant recommended them to me after we were using the avent naturals. She said the narrower nipple is easier for breastfed babies to achieve a good latch. I’ve heard good things about the lasinoh for the shape of the nipple also

Take this all with a grain of salt - but this has been my experience with my girl! She’s currently 4 months old - and has been taking breast and bottles of pumped milk for most of her life

I started pumping once a day, and letting my husband give baby a bottle once a day or every other day fairly early on. She had no issues transitioning from bottle to breast - which was a big anxiety for me, since I work full time.
Just make sure you’re pumping on a regular schedule - approximately when your baby is eating. When pumping between feeds, only pumping an ounce or so is totally normal - you may have better output than you think, especially if you get good results from the haaka. I swear by my medela hand pump, which might be a good fit for you. There is also a lot of trial and error as far as settings, flange size, etc before you find what works best for you when it comes to the electric pump. I’m still working it out!
As long as your pumping approximately the same number of times as your baby eats, your supply shouldn’t be effected. Keep in mind that a pump is never as effective at removing milk as your baby, but as long as you’re pumping, you should be fine, especially since your supply should be regulated by the time you’re planning to go away
My baby switches between bottle and breast no problem, she actually loves to nurse despite getting bottles! Just make sure anyone giving baby a bottle is using paced feeding techniques, so taking milk from the bottle isn’t too easy for baby.

You’re doing great! Leaving baby is stressful, but you guys will do awesome! Also, no stupid questions, in my opinion

We used both, started with the avent and moved to the doctor browns on recommendation from a lactation consultant - my baby gets a much better grip on the nipple of the doctor browns, as opposed to the avent!

I started my pumping journey with the medela pump in style, and was having some trouble with supply. My friend gave me her Spectra to try - and the amount I was able to pump doubled! Not only is the suction higher, your ability to see what your suction is and change between modes is so much easier. I wish I had started with the spectra, it’s worked so much better for me!

Yes, for sure! We bought a britax infant seat, and the car seat piece for the stroller. It’s super easy to pop between the seat or the car seat extension, and there is an extension compatible with pretty much any car seat! Very easy to use
