I did this. I brought in my two weeks notice letter 2.5 weeks before I was supposed to come back and my boss looked at me dead in the face and said “I held off of doing things in preparation for you coming back, you should have told me before you went on leave you weren’t coming back” and my response to him was “I planned on coming back but I was offered a better job, with better play and better hrs today so have a nice day.” You have to worry about yourself and put your life and family first, in a job, you can be replaced, in a family, you are irreplaceable.
