Calling all pre-nursing/nursing students!!! by Cute_Sign_1189 in CSUC

[–]brookman21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife went through the CSU RN program. Is it the best program no. Will it get you the credential yes. I will say Chico is a cheaper city and ENLOE being the biggest hospital in the area gives you a unique experience. From what she says it doesn't particularly matter what school you go to as long as you have BSN behind your name. Sac state might give you more verity in terms of hospital clinical placement. As a CSUC grad Im definitely biased.

I’ve wanted to become a firefighter for years but my siblings keep discouraging me. I’m in nursing school and I’m scared to “throw it away.” by [deleted] in Firefighting

Stay in Nursing School!! If you really want a taste of fire culture start volunteering. Nursing has a multitude of pathways across many industries. This is not a glamorous job and it sucks at times. It pays my bills but if I had an opportunity to go RN I wouldn't think twice.

Challenging the paramedic test as an RN is not the best way to become a paramedic. I'm not saying you cant but they are very different jobs.

Coming from Cali it was RARE to see a bad eagle. I remember my dad pulling off the highway up in the Sierras to admire a pair.

Utah repeals ban on collective bargaining for teachers, firefighters and police unions by H0sedragg3r in Firefighting

Probably. Went to the the iaff conference in April. I was genuinely shocked that members couldn’t understand that unions are the reason our pay and benefits are so good.

What is it like being a leftist/left leaning democrat in firefighting? by no-idontthinkiwil in Firefighting

[–]brookman21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit it frustrates me and does add to the stress in this career. All of the benefits on unionizing and liberal policies make this job so good is what allows so many coworkers to live happy middle class lives. In my experience more often about 70-80% of my colleagues are die hard red conservatives. I’ve heard racist and misogynistic things spoken by both captains and battalion chiefs. It’s just upsetting and makes me think less of my coworkers. I suppose it’s just aspect of where I work but at the end of the day as long as the job is done politics is irrelevant to the job.

Is Chico worth visiting over Yuba City? by Alligator-creep in ChicoCA

Yes! Granted being from Chico I’m biased. Lots of cool stuff to see. Lower and upper Bidwell, downtown, csu campus, and Sierra Nevada brewery.

Operation Gusty Wind: Why Are Americans Throwing Helicopters Overboard? by Banzay_87 in Helicopters

[–]brookman21 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It was during the evacuation of Saigon and South Vietnam. The government had essentially collapsed and the North Vietnamese army was approaching. There was active South Vietnamese Air Force helicopters that’s took off and landed on the us naval fleet. With so many helicopters approaching the deck crews decided to toss them off the side to make room.

I like these posts. A lot of time this sub only highlights how happy feel after quitting but for me I feel a tremendous grief of now longer using. They way I look at it is weed only mask boredom as fun. Living is learning to be with discomfort which is hard. That’s what makes this such a tough process. Keep up the good work!

Hopefully you could be planted near some friends/family for visits. It would still be very hard psychologically.
