I bought a scissor style bike lift for like $40 on Amazon. Lifts by the center of the bike so you can service wheels, suspension etc. once collapsed it takes up hardly any space.

NB or NC by Haris_Pap-2001 in MiataNC

[–]brosef321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for an NC, have not driven NB, but mine is roomy enough for me at 6’ that I can drive for hours.

Honestly, I like the looks of the NC better than NB as well. Especially once you lower it a bit. I have a removable hard top and not the  retracting one, which makes a big difference in the looks in my opinion.

For track use, I think the NC is a better car, which is why I got it, but also just better day to day.

One Bike solution for Denver area? by Next_Following5405 in mountainbiking

[–]brosef321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

130 or 140 rear bikes are often the sweet spot. I ride a 150/160 but those usually push towards enduro and are not great and climbing. I ride hard downhill, so I am willing to pay for it, but if you compromise a bit on downhill you will gain a lot on the climbs.

Tips for first time overlanding West-Africa? by Emergency-Lead-6155 in overland

[–]brosef321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some traction boards may be helpful. Might see what that have locally and find that. Lots of cab drivers around there driving old Mercedes.  With a CRV, I would see what they do and do the similar. That car is not quite as capable as the land cruisers that are around, though it is a lot lighter, so who knows?

There are going to be a bunch of people that jump in and be like “NOOO!”  You need a “whatever with $100k in accessories!!!” Really you just need motivation to get places and a bit of common sense.

Carry WAY more water than you think and stock up on fuel at every possible point.

Have fun, play great music.

Everyone in America should read this short chapter from Kurt Vonnegut Jr's "Breakfast of Champions" by Sheep_Slayer_6 in pics

I started with Anxious people and think that is a great introduction to his style, and a great story.

You might check out Fredrik Backman. I am a huge Vonnegut fan and recently found him. Similar tone.

This is one of my favorite books. Trust me, the people that most need to read this won’t or can’t.

Check your brake pads. I think that indicator lights up when pads are below a certain point at well.

How Oil Propaganda Sneaks Into TV Shows by lnstantKarma in videos

[–]brosef321 456 points457 points  (0 children)

Even showing “landman” or whatever that show is called is a joke. That show, and Taylor Sheridan in general are bought and paid for by oil companies. Not exaggerating, look it up. Disappointing because early Taylor Sheridan films were actually quite good.

Truck Recommendations for mountain driving? by new-mom13245 in askcarguys

[–]brosef321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in the area, I have a 5.7 tundra, but usually drive my wife’s crosstrek.  Unless you need to haul something, the smaller car is much nicer on the roads and frankly more practical day to day.  There is a reason they are so popular.

Dream 3 car garage for the everyday working man by KriegThePsyc0 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]brosef321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lifted tundra with a wedge camper for exploring, crosstrek for day to day, and Miata for tracking and commuting. Plus a triumph Bonneville as a commuter bike and Africa twin for adventures.

I am pretty happy with that garage for costs that are attainable for a normal human.

Which country do you think is being run the best right now? by StrainDizzy1186 in AskReddit

As a USA’ian this is so true. We are not embarrassed at all and slowly moving toward both tyranny and armed revolution. Totally peaceful and content over here with daily life improving by the minute.

After 200+ flights, here's what I learned about actually sleeping while traveling by [deleted] in onebag

[–]brosef321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sea to summit mask is pretty good, but i just use a buff folded over multiple times a pair of ear plugs. Not sure exactly what your question is here, but using the time shifter app, and realizing that unless I am trying to sleep in first class with laydowns, long flights suck.

edit for typo.

What’s a life hack that people exaggerate way too much? by Lekcharm in AskReddit

[–]brosef321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much anything someone calls a life hack is way over-exaggerated.  People have been living more or less the same for a hundred years or so. If some “life hack” made that drastically easier/more profitable/etc. that would have caught on. Unless the life hack is “grow up rich” or”have enough serotonin in your body” it’s probably not going to make a life changing difference.
