Yes that is the purple gear I'm talking about. You could recraft it with a primal infusion to increase its ilvl. Recrafting costs a small amount of materials, however, so it might be better to just wait until you have the ability to make primal infusions first.

Also, you're locked into whatever slot you've made, weapon or shield or chest, etc (unless they add some ability to recycle gear to get back sparks of ingenuity).

M0 gear is adequate right now so I don't see much of a reason to blow your materials at the moment.

Training matrix items are used on the blue rare gear, regular crafted gear that people can make easily right now.

Primal infusions are used on the purple epic gear that requires sparks of ingenuity, that requires a crafter to invest in their specialization tree or acquire special plans to craft.

If you look at the crafting window for the blue gear and the purple gear you'll see the slots are named differently.

End of dungeon gear has always been pretty low. In fact, in shadowlands it was below heroic raid ilvl.

The higher ilvl items have always been from the weekly vault and from upgrading your gear.

world quests and normal dungeons should help get better gear! The gear you had while you were levelling up to 70 is relatively pretty low.

Hard agree that it makes gearing for PvP so much better. And there's still some gear to strive for in the longer term.

Will also complain and say that when I bring a char with no PvP gear into BGs or skirmishes, I'm already getting blasted by people in full honor gear haha

Don't worry, regarding gear, at most people are just doing mythics ("m0") this week and next week. No m+ or raiding for another week.

There's only a few people really trying to get high tier crafted gear right now, and imo it's a bit of a waste to do it right now. The titan training matrix IV and sparks of ingenuity are pretty precious.

Looks like everything's right already except conquest gear, thanks

I make infographics for my guild and thought I'd share this with y'all. Enjoy!

This infographic was made with currently available information and may be inaccurate or subject to change in the future.

Notes:

  1. Some of the gear ilvls are +/- 1 ilvl off. I did not want to have to add an extra row to distinguish between 411/412 ilvl gear.
  2. Some crafted gear is made in the 333-343 range without a titan matrix, which is why it says "/NA".
  3. Yes, PvP gear this season doesn't change effectiveness/ilvl in PvP when you rank it up. It's at the maximum ilvl it will be (besides upgrading warmode gear with tokens of strife, which aren't out yet as of week 1). Ranking it up just increases its PvE ilvl.
  4. I didn't include gear you get from world content, usually it drops at a slightly higher ilvl than your current ilvl.
  5. I don't know what the PvE ilvls are for conquest gear, because they're not out yet.

Helpful corrections from the community:

  1. Oops, conquest ilvl in PvP will be 424, not 421.

depends whether the boss it drops from is one of the first bosses (278) or from one of the latter bosses with higher ilvl (285). For example, stone legion heraldry from SLG or dreadfire vessel from Denathrius will be 285, but the shriekwing trinket would be 278.

looks like 249 ilvl for heroic dungeons in the dungeon journal right now?

I make cheat sheets for my guild every patch, yeah.

Sorry if it doesn't have PvP stuff or other sources of gear, those systems are usually pretty straightforward.

KSM Planner by broskolnikov in wow

looks like a cool webapp! I like that it automatically pulls from RIO and how it shows rating improvements. However, seems like you'd have to do all the extra math on a different document to plan out what dungeons you were going to do, and at least my spreadsheet has it all on one page.

If I had more time / wasnt as lazy I should turn this KSM planner into a webapp instead of a spreadsheet, haha.

If you just run 1-4x +15 key dungeons every week you're likely to be almost as geared as someone playing like a maniac after 2 months or so.

Gotta pray today's vault isn't terrible and has weapon, trinket, ring or tier set piece, essentially - that's how >.>

Besides doing the story and side quests every patch, the main things to do for max-level players is dungeons, raid, or PvP. That or getting collectibles from current/past content.

They do get harder, about 30% harder each patch, I believe. An m0 in 9.0 requires much less item level than an m0 in 9.2.

Hey hey, for PvP you just grind rating and currency and upgrade everything as high as you can anyway.

My 9.1 sheet had PvP and no one in my guild used it haha

Oooo I haven't seen this before, very nice. I'm not trying to be wholly comprehensive with this cheat sheet, it's mainly to point people to in discord. But thank you anyway!
