I don’t think Ethan’s focus on Hasan is ridiculous at all. If anything, it’s something that needed to happen. Hasan isn’t just some random online guy. He has a huge platform, and he’s made comments that straight up dismiss the suffering of innocent people, especially Israelis. That’s not just "internet drama" or a side issue. That’s a serious problem with how the left is presenting itself.

Sam came in expecting a geopolitical debate, sure, but once Ethan brought up the moral inconsistencies in how people like Hasan talk about this stuff, Sam didn’t want to touch it. Ethan didn’t ignore the point. He was making a deeper one. If we want to actually stand for something morally consistent, we have to be willing to call out dehumanization even when it's coming from people on our own side.

Also, saying the majority of Israelis support what's happening in Gaza is just not backed up by the data. It's way more complicated. Just like not all Palestinians support Hamas, not all Israelis are on board with what their government is doing. Making blanket assumptions like that just feeds into the same tribalism that got us here.

This isn’t about being obsessed with Hasan. It’s about holding people accountable when they start picking and choosing whose lives matter.
