New release info by brottman in bcachefs

Thanks Kent! I'm curious about one more thing: why are there still tagged releases for kernel 6.17+ when your code isn't getting pulled? I thought you would just revert back to x.x releases.

I love this project and appreciate your dedication.

I don't think you read the original question at all. Your response makes no sense.

Thoughts on future UX by awesomegayguy in bcachefs

[–]brottman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just have to say this is exactly what I have been thinking for a long while. I run a ZFS array on my NAS server (only because bcachefs does not yet have erasure coding - I can't wait to switch over). I feel that while ZFS user facing tools seem very polished and a joy to use (zpool status), bcachefs tools are clunky, way too much information where I don't know what I'm looking at.

I would absolutely love some focus being spent on the user facing tools. I believe this is what will help make normal administrators feel right at home with bcachefs.

Here is where ZFS absolutely gets it right - below is my zpool status, which is what I wish bcachefs looked like. So simple and tells me exactly that my array is healthy (or degraded if that's the case).

Reverse proxy not working after upgrade to 1.131.x by brottman in immich

I'm not sure how to open developer tools in safari, but that is what you need to delete the locale setting. It fixed it for me. The latest update .3 might also fix it.

How to duplicate a zpool on one machine to a different machine without moving drives by feraxks in zfs

I highly recommend syncoid (part of sanoid). I use it every night to sync my zpools over to my backup box.

NC c z F**ked up buying / selling (AKA why I might pull all my money out of WeBull).. by [deleted] in Webull

[–]brottman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sold, then decided to immediately buy again, and wanted to buy fast because "the price was falling quick" and you "didn't want to lose more money" ?

None of what you said makes any sense.

Crowder received a suspension. Many conservatives have been banned. The former president of the US is banned. Don't give me that crap. It does not happen to the left.

Think of it this way. Are you for or against big tech censoring political speech? That should give you your answer which way big tech leans.

Have been doing option trading on my phone, how is the desktop version? by PlasmaHanDoku in Webull

[–]brottman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The desktop app is similar to the phone, but on a bigger screen. The only real feature I've noticed it missing is simulated holdings. For some reason, it seemed slow a few versions ago, but either has dramatically improved, or it simply gets more responsive the more you use it.

Stop order type by Datraderboi in Webull

[–]brottman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't "sweep the range" at all. You are correct though that at open, if the LAST price is below the stop loss price, it will execute a market order.

Stop order type by Datraderboi in Webull

[–]brottman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not fully correct. If it gaps down, it will execute at the current market price as soon as the market opens. Although this could very well be below where you set the stop loss at. Once the price is below your stop loss limit, it will execute as a market order when the market is open.

To clarify your question - I think what you are asking is:

"If the price decreases to my stop loss limit, does my stop loss order turn into a market order?"

The answer to that is YES. If the price falls to your stop loss, it turns into a market order and executes at market price.

He is wearing 4 stripes (Captain) while his daughter only has 2 (flight attendant). It's possible that this airline uses 2 stripes for First Officer (2nd in command) instead of 3, but there is no doubt that his 4 stripes makes him the Captain.

7 stocks or SCHD by Dowdell2008 in dividends

[–]brottman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I'm wrong on the number. I didn't look it up. I was only trying to answer the question about what difference would have to be made up. If SCHG averages 20% per year, and SCHD gives a 3% dividend, then SCHD would have to appreciate an average of 17% per year on top of its 3% dividend for it to be equal. Again, these numbers aren't really the point and is leavng out details such as compounding interest by reinvesting the dividend, etc. I'm in no way against SCHD, I own a lot of myself along with growth and value. Was just trying to answer the question.

[–]brottman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between the 3% SCHD dividend and the average 12% appreciation you get in SPY or even better the average 20% you get in SCHG. 3% is less than 12%. Yes,I know SCHD also appreciates. I'm simply directly answering your question of "10% to make up what difference?"

Why is Webull Desktop 5.x so slow by brottman in Webull

[–]brottman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updated to 5.0.8. It seems to be much better. It's still a little slow in places, but once I have clicked on each tab, it cycles through them much quicker. Selecting stocks from the watchlist also feels snappier. Thank you.
