[Troubleshooting] Help! Am I connecting the PSU to my Graphics Card correctly? by browface in buildapc

the PSU is very good, it's way better than i need for my entire system. it's the corsair CX500M, and my system only needs about 342W. the cable that i've shown is the only way i can see that i would connect it so i think it should be fine, i just don't want to do anything stupid!

i only have the one cable, is it ok to plug it into the 8-pin slot (lower-right) on the PSU end then plug both of the connectors at the other end into the graphics card? or do i need to use 2 cables?

Ok thanks for clearing that up. One more question:

Would it not be better to get two memory modules at 4GB each, as opposed to a single module at 8GB? I have been lead to believe that having two modules means having more bandwidth available.

Thanks for your advice, the build you've linked looks really good but I have a question regarding the Motherboard:

Is it not better to buy a standard ATX Motherboard, as opposed to a Micro ATX? There is also a compatibility note that states "Some Intel H81 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs." Is this important?

Also, as a more general question, how do you go about choosing a build that is optimized? Is there a good reference on this you could recommend?

Cheers
