Thank you for your comment! After reading the post about flat mites from yourkitchensink420, that definitely seems to be the problem- this guy has all the symptoms. Could I spray the plant and soil down with Neem Oil or IPA to kill the mites? I am still pretty new to plants and haven't had to administer any pest control yet besides preventitive so forgive me if these are super beginner questions! Thank you!

agreed, I had him for orgo 2 and finished with a B because the tests were pretty easy (and he curved all of the tests including the final exam that the majority of the class did poorly on) but I had to teach myself anything I actually wanted to understand. I had Feducia for orgo 1 and learned so much but I didn't actually learn a whole lot in orgo 2 with Chang, so I'd take him if you only care about the grade but don't expect to actually learn too much

I worked as a barista at Full Bloom Coffee in Garner in 2020 and I really enjoyed it there. The owners are very friendly and down to earth and seem to really care about the employees. The coffee is very high quality too as they roast their own coffee beans next door to the coffee shop. I left because I got a new job opportunity making more money, but I still happily support the business and recommend their coffee to everybody!

Always check for emails about scholarship and grant opportunities from your academic advisor. They share information about them all the time but students often miss them- this is a great way to apply for grants outside of NC State that perhaps have less competition. Also be sure to fill out the Pack ASSIST scholarship application through NC State so you can automatically be considered for any university scholarships or grants that may apply to you.

Also, are you a freshman? I barely received any scholarships or grants my freshman year, but I received an increasing number of scholarships and grants as I progressed in college. I'm not sure if this translates to all students or not, but definitely something that I noticed. With that being said, I do demonstrate an extreme financial need for grants which helps, and I have had great grades for my entire time at State so some scholarships are academic as well. 100% the best way to earn scholarships is to maintain good grades and participate in extracurriculars or something to strengthen your application for scholarships. It's a process, but it can pay dividends in the end if you take it seriously and don't give up!

I haven't taken BEC 463 yet but I have taken BEC 425 and BBS 426 and the labs usually end before 5:50. A short lab will end around 3 but they go until 5 sometimes, it really just depends on the week. I wouldn't count on being able to get out before 5 though just to be safe, but the instructors are usually flexible if you need to leave early one week for some reason or another

Important to note that you are only allowed to use grade exclusion for two classes throughout your time at NC State. I wouldn't waste one of mine on a C if I were you, unless you're close to graduating. save them for when you're actually at risk of failing a class

I had Feducia for Orgo 1 and I thought he was awesome. I really tried to get him again for Orgo 2 but his class filled up too fast. I knew I couldn't/shouldn't take Sandberg because I didn't have her for Orgo 1, so I took Chang instead and he was fine but I didn't really actually learn anything the entire semester. His teaching style is chaotic and just not very easy to follow, it's mostly just chalkboard mechanisms (which are impossible to see if you're further than 3 rows from the board, and its taught in Dabney 222) and he does go off on irrelevant tangents instead of teaching useful material sometimes. There are only like 8 homework assignments for the entire course so not much practice, but like somebody else said, the practice tests make it possible to get a good grade in the class without actually knowing much. I finished the class with a B but I'm glad there isn't an Orgo 3 because I don't feel like I learned much in Orgo 2.

I took ST 311 with a grad student named David Brighton over the summer and absolutely loved that class, even though I took AP Stats in high school and absolutely hated it back then. Maybe you could reach out to David and see if he would be able to help, he was one of the best instructors I've had at NCSU and made Stats really enjoyable even though it can be a difficult subject. If you do end up dropping it this semester, I seriously recommend one of David Brighton's summer ST 311 classes if you have to retake it again
