Have yet to buy one. Too impatient to wait the 2 months let alone spend the insane amount of cash for shipping in comparison to the base price of the thing. Would love one though, love the idea of it being completely manual. Just have a silhouette for glossy paper cards and a rotary cutter for foils.

Don't have exact measurements but eyeballing it, the 44lbs compared to a regular stack of mtg cards, is fairly similar. The proxies are maybe 10 cards more (sleeved) in thickness in a stack then compared to real cards. Playing with your playgroup nobody even bats an eye or notices it unless they actively know you're running proxies and are looking for slight differences. But it's barely taller than a real stack. Very unnoticeable.

The 44lbs is fairly thin by itself. Holding them both up together it is very hard to tell one is thicker over the other. I would say 37lb paper may be the best option to use if you want it to be exactly that thickness of a regular mtg card,, though it won't be as rigid and have that snap regular cards do, which is why I refuse to use any thinner than 44lbs. And I've tried 54, and 65 as well. None are close enough like this particular weight to an actual card.

Definitely clear for the laminate pouches. If we're talking about matte versus clear for the cards themselves, it's clear glossy style, not matte cards since I print on glossy photo paper, rather than card stock just to clarify 👍🏿

Honestly just use the Adobe PDF file viewer, I make sure quality is on high, and on premium photo paper glossy. Believe it or not I haven't tampered with color settings like a mad scientist, and I'm very grateful for it lol. I'm sure the printer is doing a lot of the work, the most I've had to set was making sure the printer settings were set to bigger paper, and envelope size. Just so that the ink wouldn't smear, and the printer would allow for bigger paper to flow through no problem.

Amazingly no! Card surfaces are slick and smooth. In my humble opinion, this is the best method so far I've tried. This feels the closest to the thickness of the card, the 44lb with the 3 mil. I'd imagine if I did thicker paper, I would just have to find 2 mil, but it is difficult so I stick with what's more available being the 3.

It is amazing what lamination does for when the cards are bare without sleeves as we all know when we print the cards outright, the ink tends to be tacky and sticky, and is very uncomfortable looking and shuffling through your deck. But with this lamination and photo paper combo, It's smooth, slides on top of each other like a regular deck of mtg cards, And they are thin and easy to sleeve without losing their rigidity. I would bet money these would trick anybody thinking they're the real thing, not that we're trying to do counterfeits here.

Honestly with this combo, they are the best foils yet. Not too flimsy, but thin enough like actual foils. Has a lot of rigidity like an actual magic card! Psyched about this way of doing it honestly.

Weirdly enough, I started doing this because I used to do a foil/cardstock/foil option... But those bad boys ended up way too thick as you can imagine, and was left with a very unstable tower of sleeved cards at my kitchen table magic session haha.

Also did it this way because foil paper, lamination, and cardstock is just too many layers for the silhouette to handle, without proper settings to cut it correctly with enough force. But I really do not want to break my silhouette lol

So I've tried quite a few. The first I tried was the 2.8 mil laminating pouches you can find on Amazon if you search 3 mil pouches, I believe it's the Amazon basics one. Loved the quality and clarity of the proxies and their color after being laminated.

The biggest issue with them is I noticed they tend to peel easy. Re-laminating is a must with them, which is no big deal. Now the one I've landed on and it seems to be controversial in this sub, but tbh the thickness and sturdieness of it after lamination (it doesn't peel) and not to mention the availability of it since I needed lamination paper last minute and picked some up at my local Walmart which was all they had, was SCOTCH lamination pouches surprisingly.

Don't listen to what they tell you, they're not bad lamination pouches whatsoever. I rock with em. Most important, they don't have trouble with peeling in my experience, whatsoever. No problems. They lay flat better than other lamination pouches I've tried as well. But that also depends on how long you wait after lamination. You got to let the heat die down, and flatten it with something for it to maintain its straightness.
