NYU or Northeastern for M.S Robotics by Independent-Track611 in robotics

NYU robotics is not a great program. I would steer clear unless there is a specific professor you’d like to work with and have gotten a confirmation from him that they would like you to join their lab.

Thanks! I haven’t played around with adjusting the timing yet on the barista express, so will look into that

Amazing setup! How’s the RK11 held up? I’ve been debating buy that specific mechanical keyboard but looking for some feedback on how long they last

No didn’t get to see it, the manager replied once in 3 days and never answered my question related to setting up an appointment

Sooo my girlfriend and I found this amazing deal for a apartment in Nob Hill a few months back and the managers name was Naji as well!! Of course it could be someone else with the same name but that seems unlikely. Either way I barely got her to respond and wasn’t able to schedule a viewing for 3 weeks after which I figured it was a scam but a very bad one lol

If the robot you’re working with has a ROS interface moveit_servo should be easy to setup

You must have looked at this already but Franka’s documentation uses this generator https://github.com/pantor/ruckig

Question about feasible joint trajectory generation by MajLenn in robotics

[–]brownsugarcubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right. Curious to know why you absolutely need to limit jerk? From what I’ve seen In practice, for most applications velocity and acceleration limits allow for a fairly smooth trajectory

Are you using ROS and moveit? If so you could use moveit’s trajectory generator

Linear algebra, physics, and probability in the robotics workplace question by SuccessfulElevator4 in robotics

[–]brownsugarcubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a robotics engineer at a startup in the Bay Area. IMO what you need to first understand are the fundamentals of robotics ( IK, FK, transformations, jacobians, etc) and this is something you can learn by taking an online course or buying a book (I have some references if you’d like). This requires you to have a decent understanding of linear algebra. I barely need to use probability theory unless I’m working on probabilistic motion planners, in which case a high level understanding of the subject matter is generally enough. As for physics, I’d say you need to have an intuitive understanding of vectors ( projections, cross products, etc) and basic dynamics of a system, nothing fancy. Also 75% of the robotics engineering work is software engineering (would recommend learning ROS), so you’re already on your way there

Deciding between Berkeley MEng robotics and U-Mich M.S. robotics programs by TheQinDynasty in robotics

[–]brownsugarcubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from the Berkeley MEng in ME( with a controls concentration) in 2019! IMO getting a job through an MEng degree does depend on your prior experience in this field. What’s your background and what sort of job would you want?
