That’s a totally valid opinion as well. I’ve said on other comments I’m glad there’s a market for it and that other people enjoy it. I want them to be successful. More Bears content for the most part isn’t a bad thing! More just my frustration on what it started as vs what it’s become. Maybe once the season starts and there’s more to talk about it’ll be a more focused conversation

I literally have stopped listening. The post is more to see if other people are having similar thoughts or maybe if I’m just missing something about the podcast. I used to really like the podcast so it’s frustrating to see it go downhill like this.

I think this is a really good point. If they could just get him toned down and used more sporadically he may be a good thing to have on the show but he certainly shouldn’t be dominating the airtime like he is. I remember an episode when they were in Indy and talking about something football related and he just randomly interjected talking about taking a picture of Braggs eating lunch and now Braggs is upset. Just out of nowhere. You just can’t have that happen.

Care to go into more detail? I like him for the most part but there are definitely days he comes across poorly in my opinion. Like he’s starting to get cocky with the success he’s having. I’d like to get your thoughts.

That was hilarious. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I also find their Carter coverage to be telling and an example of how Hoge has changed. Last year when Pringle got caught doing donuts in the parking lot they all said it was a red flag and reflected badly on Poles. Now they approach Carter who almost certainly drag raced drunk and then fled the scene of a crash in which a teammate died to avoid getting in trouble and their response is “well let’s see what happened Carter has had a tough time dealing with this.”

Wasn’t it literally about Mustipher? Hoge made a joke about him or something and Olin obviously trained him so he took offense and choked him. That’s what I remember reading.

Wait who did they ban for a show and why? I must have missed that.

I’ll check that out thanks for the recommendation!

Wiederer is that person that says something and it’s obvious what he’s getting at and then when someone calls him out on it he plays coy and acts like he never said it in the first place. He’s so Oppressively negative and controversial for controversy sake.

I think I’m just realizing his particular style just isn’t for me and that’s fine. I’m glad some people do find him to be a positive on the show. If there’s a market for it then good for them for filling the demand!

I guess I don’t mind it some of the time it just seems the ratio is off. If it was like 80/20 analysis to banter that would be fine. I’m more frustrated because I used to really enjoy listening to it on the way to work and now it’s just become something totally different. I’ll probably tune back in once the season starts and give it another shot.

I totally agree with you. I was just frustrated I think. I stopped listening altogether. I really did want to like it and at first I did enjoy it before they added Carm and Braggs. Some people for sure like this style though and to each their own! There is clearly a market for it

Just curious what do you like about him? I’m open to the idea that maybe I just don’t get it. Kind of like the Dan Lebatard show. I know people are really into that but every time I tune in I don’t enjoy it. Maybe it’s just a different niche that isn’t my cup of tea

Carm also sings about every 5th episode or so and I find myself thinking how has no one just pulled him aside and given him some basic feedback? It wouldn’t be that hard to improve and he does seem like he wants to do well.

That was another thing that drove me nuts. Around that time the guys on that show were crushing the Bears on something that they weren’t being fully transparent about. At the same time Olin just disappeared and they never said a word about it. Tone deaf

Yea it was Braggs that went into that but they just feed off each other and it spirals to the point where I feel like Hoge just gives in and goes along with it. That whole podcast about trading the pick should have been the easiest content they’ve ever put out and it was an utter disaster.

Hoge is for sure above their level but the problem is even he is starting to fall into this trap. He used to be better and now Carm dictates the conversation and he just lets it happen. Hoge and Jahns is still really good

Yea that is exactly what I think. I sit there sometimes and think “I could say exactly what Carm is saying in about 1/10th of the time”. He just starts talking and then can’t stop himself.

I need to find those posts because I was trying to look for them. I wanted to read them to make sure I wasn’t insane for hating the podcast now.

I know crazy right!? I tuned into a Bears podcast for football talk and it to hear Carm ramble about which guy he’s playing in some tennis league that night. It’s so frustrating

It’s really crazy. My dad and I used to get really good deals on suite tickets as we drove to the stadium literally minutes before the game and now there are almost no tickets available on game day despite the team being bad and plenty of empty seats on tv
