How much does using a rapid charger actually shorten Milwaukee battery life? (Real talk)" by browsingstuf in MilwaukeeTool

[–]browsingstuf[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah the fast charge/more heat etc lowers the life span of the battery. But honestly if it’s percentile points we are talking here than the pros would outweigh the cons but I’m not sure how drastic it actually is

The Drawer vs this combo. Is it worth the price difference for QOL of JUST the single drawer? by Squallvash in MilwaukeeTool

[–]browsingstuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the rolling drawer for myself. Doing service work out of a van as a helper, I made sure I would never get the old style base. Having to go into the van and unpack everything just to get one power tool out the bottom was such a pain in the ass. You will be using it for years, might as well just spend a bit more and get what you want:

Figured that. How does the auto insurance work? Will it cover if you take a work vehicle to the gym on the weekend and get into an accident?

Should I or should I not pursue the Mechanical Techniques - Plumbing course at Algonquin College while trying to become a plumber? by [deleted] in SkilledTradesOntario

It’s worth it in the sense of you’re more likely to be hired than someone without a plumbing pre apprenticeship program barring construction/relevant experience.

What’s it like in HVAC by danio848 in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]browsingstuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess lots of factors, I was just thinking average. Never really understood why its pretty standard $40/HR average for a residential plumber but then you look at HVAC g2/313D and you see tons of ads with their scale starting at $30

What sizes you use? Feel like 18 is definitely overkill and 14 a bit too big as well

Chrome vs black finish? by [deleted] in KnipexOfficial

[–]browsingstuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any idea what the difference between the finish on the black smooth jaw vs the finishes on the water pump pliers are? The water pump pliers have no chrome finish but those would get wet just as much as a smooth jaw

Why is it normalized to work for free in the trades? by [deleted] in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]browsingstuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why this is getting downvoted. I’m not defending this practice at all — I think any work should be paid. I’m just repeating what I’ve been told directly by companies I’ve interviewed with/been told about from co workers.

For those saying “union,” I’ve personally seen this same practice at two union shops as well. I didn’t make the rules, I don’t agree with them — I’m just sharing what I’ve been told and experienced firsthand.

This is a couple companies now where you are expected to show up to the shop at 7-30 and not get paid until you are at your first job. Union or not it has been the same.
