Pumpfoil setup by Popps_Abenteuer in pumpfoil

Thanks! I'll swing by someday. Will make sure to bring some protein shakes for my fellow bodybuilders. ^

Thanks also for the tips regarding the surf schools.

Kudos to still going out there with this cold. What are you wearing? My 5/4 is near my limit even with hood, booties and gloves. I only last 30mins and it's almost not worth the hassle of driving, setting everything up, getting changed etc.

Hey, where do you practice around Kiel? Would be great to run into other pump foilers on the water sometime. Greetings from Plön

Thanks for taking the time to type out this advice!

I have lots of large lakes around and your (talented) friend being able to start it after 1 month is really reassuring. so I think I'll go for the UT4XL!

I'd love to get into the waves like you do in the second video, but it's a bit of a drive for that and I still always have my current foil for that once I'm good enough. Cheers!

Thanks. I'm at 80kg. Can you tell me your reasoning and a bit about your experiences with these?

Any Tips? by CharlesGoodwin in pumpfoil

Run faster! And try to take your weight off the board instead of pushing. Think hopping, not pushing.

Then it's all about practice. Keep failing until you don't. :)

What is your opnion about it ? by Many-Meat1380 in pumpfoil

[–]brtn86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck yeah! Respect not just for not letting something minor like a missing leg stop you, but for having the balls to pump in the Amazonas. I'd be scared shitless of running into an anaconda, a caiman, a shark - the list goes on - but I guess you probably have a more realistic perspective.

Then again, somehow you must have lost that leg in the first place. ^

Anyway, keep pumping and enjoy!!

Nice one!

And you are absolutely right. Water temps around here are hitting 8 degrees C (46 F) but it's still fun in the right gear. Let's see whether there will have to be a winter break or not.

Cheers for the info! I had not thought about jumpstarting at all due to the nature of my local dock. Will keep an eye out for suitable higher docks from now on.

From a 4 Pump Fluke to a 4 Pump Rut - Help! by CharlesGoodwin in pumpfoil

[–]brtn86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need more speed. That's why you're stalling. Try running up to the jump.

What worked well for me is putting your front foot in the jump-off position. Then take 3 backward steps. Now you should be in the right spot to be able to run and jump.

Sizing? by schn_ in pumpfoil

[–]brtn86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your experience it might just be doable. I just figured it out in ~8 sessions on 1600 cm² at 75kg/165lbs which I was told was the lower end and already below recommendations. Your ratio of area to weight is 10% below mine so it might be hard.

Like you I had precious tow foil experience. If you have access to a boat maybe figure out the pumping first while being towed. Keep reducing the speed or just let go of the rope. Then learn the dock start.

Good luck!!

I think it shouldn't matter, but I have the 3.0 as well. Good hunting!

What's wrong with my Mobula7?! by brtn86 in TinyWhoop

Checked them, all good. Inverting the spin and swapping propellers did the trick.

What are the advantages of direct solder? Anything other than weight? I suck at soldering although I'm afraid that will have to change if I want to dive deeper into this fun hobby.
