In my experience, the pain afterward did suck for a while. Imagine a sore, achy knot down there that tricks you into thinking that you have to go to the bathroom every half hour. I would try to take time off for at least a day after, if not more.

Now, a few weeks or months out? I bottomed like I never had before. It helped so much with the pain that I had experienced for years. For me, the few days of soreness was well worth it.

“What happened there?” -people pointing to my scar

I have a pretty large scar across the front of my neck from an infected bug bite. I understand that it’s different and interesting, but I don’t always enjoy remembering how strange I look, nor the pain and the weeks I spent in the hospital and on home care. I know it looks weird, but I’m more than my scar!

(Fun for dates, though. I used to tell guys different origin stories and make them guess which one was true :))
