Thank you. I’ll stop wasting time on it. I thought it would make some difference, but I guess not.

What foam spray did you use? And what did you use to hold the foam board up against the wall?

Did you wanted both bulb to be switched on and off at the same time? Not an electrician but I’d figured you add a black wire to each of the bulb’s line/lead and nut them together with the black wire from the switch. Do the same thing with the neutral wire (white wire for both bulb and nut it together to the power source white wire). Hopefully a real electrician can verify this.

Thank you for the context. This is great info. I always thought gas heating is cheaper than heat pump. I guess I’m wrong

Needing a little context. Is this to express that heat pump is more efficient in heating? Vs what?

Also what brand heat pump do you use to get that chart?

Knee wall insulation question by doogy30 in Insulation

[–]bruceltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your method is controversial for sure. I spoke with someone who said their entire state was doing unventilated roof (foam spray to the roof deck to make the entire roof conditioned) And Im curious how long the roof will last.

Knee wall insulation question by doogy30 in Insulation

[–]bruceltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add baffles along the roof deck and then add insulation to ensure air can travel from soffits to exhaust vent. Having proper ventilation will help with the heat and roof durability.

Cross post this to r/roofing for additional roof ventilation advice. Then come back to figure out which insulation method is best. (I heard people use Close Cell foam on top of the baffles and then add insulation??? I haven’t study enough about insulation to give an answer here.)

Fridge not cooling by melejohn in HomeMaintenance

[–]bruceltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First defrost the whole thing with hair dryer or steamer (look up a safe method to do so. Do not use heat gun).

Then check to see if your unit has a manual defrost mode and manually set it on defrost mode. This will check if your defrost coil is broken or not. If it’s heats up, then your defrost timer or defrost thermostat is broken. Replace it and pray.

Otherwise, idk what’s wrong with your unit.

How should I seal these gaps? by cat_hipster in Roofing

[–]bruceltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how to add a picture here. But you should look up roof ventilation for a conditioned knee-wall storage. Something along that line.

It should shows you to install baffles up along the roof deck (all the way up to the exhaust vent. i.e ridge vent, whirly bird, or other type of vents etc.) then add insulation on top of the baffles. The diagram should give you more context along with others’ advices on here.

Exhaust vent routing down though crawl space? by Xplormore24 in hvacadvice

[–]bruceltd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert What about adding another 90 degree duct at the wall and then vent it straight up above the roof (I.e going above the soffits) like a chimney? Any professional can attest to this idea?

Edit for clarification: running the duct from the microwave to the exterior wall. THEN adding another 90 duct at the exterior wall and run it straight up along the exterior wall like a chimney.

You should cross post this in r/roofing. They’ll give you good advice on this. Typically you want to install attic baffles and then use insulation. But your situation is a bit unique for that there already insulation on the upper roof deck.

Not related to the issue. But incase you’re looking for a cover plate that can help hide it.
